Normally, breathing isn’t something that you stop & think about. But, these aren’t the usual times. The pandemic, rising pollution levels & poor lifestyle habits are wreaking havoc on your lungs every day.
Even after recovering from Coronavirus, many people require breathing rehabilitation due to the effect of the disease on the lungs. Research shows that the virus disrupts your lung potential completely. And, if you are living in a highly polluted area, your respiratory system gets weakened & compromised - leaving you much more vulnerable to the impact of the Coronavirus.
A lot of us battling asthma or other respiratory disorders regularly need breath exercises to support normal breathing. And, for the rest of us, several environmental factors & infections are there to malign our lung health.
So, is it wise to take your lung health for granted?
If the answer is no, then learn about lung health, & practical ways to boost it in our upcoming program ‘Renew Your Lungs’, presented by Violet Wisdom - a wellness education platform. Explore the Diet, Yoga & Lifestyle practices to improve respiratory health in this LIVE program. This program has been uniquely designed to merge the ancient wisdom of Yoga with modern lifestyle practices, offering the education and tools to implement it in daily life.
Why can’t you ignore lung health?
Breathing is vital for all life forms. The entire life is lived from first breath to last breath. We breathe 21,600 times a day. Yogic tradition has always emphasized good lung health for a strong body, that can dodge stress and sickness, increase stamina, vitality, immunity, and attain optimum health.
How does breath affect your body?
Breathing directly affects our cardiovascular, nervous systems, and digestive systems. Our average lung capacity is to hold 5-6 liters of air. But, in today’s polluted environment an average adult does not even utilize 50% of their lung’s potential. This increases the risk of heart & respiratory diseases.
How does Yoga improve breathing?
When we are stressed or tensed, our breathing becomes rapid, short, and shallow.
Better airflow and good lung capacity can be achieved through specific yogic techniques. These techniques also improve the elimination of waste gases and induce relaxation.
How does good lung capacity & proper breathing improve physical health?
By mid-age, your lung capacity reduces by 10%. This decline continues due to a lack of proper breathing and poor physical health. Proper inhalation, exhalation, and retention of breath ensures good lung capacity, which in turn increases strength, vitality, and overall health.
Breathing through the nose is our first line of defense against pollution & particulate matter
When air passes through the nasal passage, nasal cells produce nitric oxide. Nitric oxide supports lung function & neuron regeneration in the brain
