As the pandemic spreads further, most of us need to sit and work at the computer for long hours. If not for work, we do keep sitting for other activities - TV watching, talking to family or friends, eating, or just browsing on our phones.
Do you realize that sitting in the wrong ways is putting a huge amount of stress on your back, neck, shoulders, and even legs? If continued for long periods of time it can result in spinal issues, varicose veins, and a stiff neck.
Sitting comes to us as a reflex, we don’t think much about it when we are doing it. And that’s why it is crucial to train our muscles and mind to adapt to correct postures. This is exactly what we are going to do in the workshop.

Conducted by Padmini Menon, an expert in the Alexander Technique (A skill to modify unconscious habits) this program will habituate you to Sit with poise and work for long hours without putting a strain on your back.

“Sitting is an activity that requires mobilization of all your muscles, and your balancing mechanism.”
Sitting correctly requires you to let go of unnecessary tensions that you have holding, putting a strain on your back, shoulders, and neck. So learning to let go of these tensions will not only help us to sit better but will also reduce any back or neck pain that we already have.
Expected Results of the Workshop:
If you regularly practice the things taught in the program, in the long-term you will be able to:
Sit comfortably for longer periods of time without damaging your back or health in any way
Set up your workplace effectively that’s healthy for your posture

Learn to Sit well with poise and ease while Working from Home (based on the Alexander Technique):
Discover what do you do wrong while sitting
Explore the tension that your back or neck muscles have been holding
Ways to let go of that tension
Sit & do other daily activities while removing or healing that tension
Ergonomics of setting a healthy workspace at home
We will share the list of things that you will require for LIVE sessions after you enroll (e.g. chair for sitting, etc.)

Program Coach
Padmini Menon is an expert in posture correction using the Alexander Technique and training people from varied backgrounds. She has been teaching this technique in India for the past 10 years and has trained at the Brighton Alexander Technique College in the UK. Working with people of all ages & professions including dancers, actors, sportspersons, and the elderly, she has successfully cured them of issues ranging from RSI to chronic back, neck, or shoulder pain. She has taught the technique to students at the National School of Drama, Delhi, Whistling Woods Film School, Mumbai, and Dance Studies at Ambedkar University. She also conducts classes & workshops in Mumbai, Delhi, and Hyderabad.
