Today there is a big rise in hormonal issues like PCOS and Thyroidism (Hypo or Hyper). Hormones take care of many functions of the whole body and help us continue our day to day activities with ease. But hormones are out of sync in today’s lifestyle. How can we take care of this issue?
Hormones get imbalanced because our glands do not release and stop them at the correct time i.e an overproduction or underproduction. The mechanism of systematic functioning is necessary for the harmonious function of our body. The feedback mechanism includes sending of hormones to the particular organ as per need and the gland controls when to stop sending hormones. But in some cases, this feedback mechanism stops functioning smoothly and this is when the disease starts.
So how we can make our glands healthier with the correct diet and exercise for the Seven Major glands?
1.Testes and Ovaries:
The sexual glands - testes in males and ovaries in females are the reproductive glands Procreation very much relies on the harmonious function of these two glands. Their functioning is further dependant on the natural lifestyle we follow. Simple things like walking on grass help in releasing stress and increase the functioning of the hormones released from these glands.
2. Adrenals:
Adrenals have the most important function of fight and flight mechanism, Adrenals take on the role of maintenance of glucose in the body, lowering blood pressure alertness etc. Then we expose our body to adequate sunlight the cells become activated in releasing the hormones at the right time.
3. Pancreas:
The hormones released by the pancreas is very much responsible for the breakdown of the food and absorption of the nutrient from the food we are eating. All the people who have recurrent complaints of acidity, constipation, gas, diabetes etc may be having problems with his gland. The pancreas has a major role in the working of our gastrointestinal tract. Plant-based nutrients we consume detoxifies our GUT and helps with metabolism.
4.Thymus:
Thymus gland has a major role to play in the immune system of the body, it contributes a lot in the functioning of lymphocytes and it helps in fighting foreign bodies. The combination of Vitamin C and sun exposure is best for improving immunity levels.
5.Thyroid:
When the thyroid hormone is overworking this is the cause of hyperthyroidism and causes unwanted weight loss. When the gland is releasing hormones in a sluggish manner, it causes hypothyroidism and in turn obesity. In both cases, the cause is similar toxicity in the environment. Meditation contributes to balancing this gland for achieving homeostasis.
6. Pituitary:
The pituitary gland, known as the master gland of the body, helps in controlling the function of the other glands and release of hormones. A lifestyle which is in touch with nature helps in balancing it.
7. Hypothalamus:
From releasing hormones to the maintenance of body temperature, the hypothalamus keeps everything in order. Even our body clock is dependent on the function of the hypothalamus. Our sleep which is the most important thing for the maintenance of our body is regulated by the hypothalamus which is dependent on the food we eat, the air we breathe and the body which is fuelled with energy coming from nature.
