Jowar Almond Biscuits – full of nutrition!

Biscuits are handy snacks that are relished by kids and adults alike. But then most variants available in the market are made using maida, sugar, colours etc. How about making your own biscuits! Yes, put together some easily available & healthy ingredients and make healthful, tasty biscuits!

Ingredients

  • Almonds:1 cup
  • Flax seeds powder:1 tsp
  • Dates (pitted): 8
  • Powdered rock salt: a pinch
  • Cinnamon powder:1 tsp
  • Jowar flour:½ cup

Method

  • Grind the almonds, flax seeds, cinnamon and salt in your mixer jar till it makes a fine powder.
  • Add dates and grind again till it all comes together.
  • Now add the flour and mix well.
  • If it is too dry, add a spoon of water.
  • Keep the mixture aside for 15 mins.
  • Shape into cookies and keep on baking paper.
  • Preheat oven to 210˚C.
  • Bake for 5 minutes or longer till sides start getting brown.
  • The oil from the nuts and seeds keeps the dough together and cooks it.
  • It will harden a bit on cooling.
  • Do not overbake, else it may get too hard.

  • Can be served as a tiffin snack or after play snack to kids.

can a cooker be used for baking instead of oven ?

Yes pls add salt at base of cooker pre heat for some time. and follow it with same as for oven.
