Sunglasses - Does Mother Nature want us to wear them?
The necessity for wearing sunglasses to protect eyes from light and sunshine has been well established by ''the sunglass manufacturers'' which is quite ill-founded and not true. The manufacturers say that if you don't wear them every time your eyes come in contact with strong light, you are in danger of eye damage. This has become another multi-million dollar business. So, what is the truth? The fact that people who spend most of their lives in strong sunlight without sunglasses and still have good eye sights is completely ignored. The Arabs spend long hours in the desert under strong sunlight without harm to their eyes. The American -Indian spend most of his days in the sunshine. I have never seen a photograph of or known an Indian[ American] to wear sunglasses. The Eskimos live in the constant glare of reflected light from snow. The sunglass manufacturers have never been successful in convincing Eskimos that they need glasses to protect their eyes. Es

Home composting
Every city is fighting with rising garbage levels. Many city corporations are struggling keeping up with the enormous amounts of waste generated. In many cities, kitchen waste, dry waste and toxic waste get mixed up and dumped in landfills which are toxic and destroy the health of the environment and people. So, how can citizens help to alleviate the problem? Garden city to garbage city? One of the battles we fight here in Bangalore is garbage. The city once known as Garden City is now called Garbage city because of the amount of garbage that piles up every day on the street corners. There are multiple reasons for this. The situation is similar in many other cities and towns across India and pretty much exists in most developing countries. Although the developed world looks cleaner and you don't spot garbage on the roadside, it does not necessarily mean that they have disposed it responsibly. What can we do? The most common, sensible thing to do with garbage is to
Green the Red : Chemical free eco friendly menstruation!
Issues faced by menstruating women world over Today the exposure of a menstruating woman to toxic chemicals is unbelievably high compared to women one or two generations ago. The reason being the use of sanitary pads or tampons during periods. Sanitary pads and tampons contain bleach, pesticides and other chemicals used for growing cotton, dioxins from plastics and gels used as absorbants. Once the menstrual blood soaks up, it creates an eco system of unhealthy microbes that are in direct contact not just with the vagina, but the urinary track and the digestive system. The exposure to these harmful chemicals and the microbes for continuous long hours cause havoc to the body. Environment pollution The disposal of used sanitary pads and tampons is a nightmare in most developing and under developed countries. They are clearly not biodegradable nor are they recyclable. In the developed countries, they are typically incinerated (combusted in a controlled industrial process) but in
