Ideally every meal you take should result in a bowel movement 5 or 6 hours later. If not, probably one is constipated. The signs are straining in the toilet and having a feeling of incomplete evacuation even after visiting the toilet. Some people feel aches and pains in the abdomen and back.

The solution is to ease up digestion for a few days. Have easy to digest fibre rich foods like fruits and vegetables. Keep off dairy, non veg and too much of starchy foods like grains.Rest, relaxation and not being in a hurry also helps.
