Hi there,

Nature cure, as by it's principle is the system of of man building in harmony with the constructive principle in nature of physical, mental, social and emotional planes of being, obeying the natural laws thereby remaining in conformity with nature. Listening and obeying nature's law brings health whereas destruction or negligence bring diseases and death.

Naturopathy is a drugless system of medicine which uses all the five elements of the nature or pancha mahabhuta to treat the body. The basic principle of naturopathy is that the body heals itself and that nature is the greatest healer. Naturopathy believes in treating the body as a whole and focusing on the root cause rather then merely treating the symptoms.

In the words of Kenneth Jeffrey,

  1.  “ Nature has not provided cures for diseases. Nature has only provided penalties for breaking some natural law”
  2. “ It is natural to be healthy”

As per L K Sharma, father of NC in India, NC is based on the truths described also in Vedas. A follower of NC believes that body corrects itself and heals. No external drug is necessary. Here drugs can be any unnatural thing entering our body even in the form of metals from cooking too. “Pathy” means disease and science that is treating a Disease will have a pathy next to it based on the principles it follows. As per as Sharma, NC is also called Naturotherepy and not naturopathy.

As per Kevin Hinton

“Q:  What is the difference between Nature Cure and Naturopathy?

A:  There is no difference in my mind.

Q:  Then why do you call yourself a NC Practitioner - why not a Naturopath?

A:  When I began my practice in 1980 I called myself a Naturopath - as did my teacher Mr Jaffrey. We practiced pure Naturopathy - as espoused by all the great teachers down through history.

But in the '80's we saw the 'alternative revolution' Health shops were opening up - stocked with all sorts of medicines, herbs, tinctures, vitamins, tissue salts, et al - and so when asked what I did/practiced - and responded with…"I'm a Naturopath" - I would get the question…oh do you use herbs, tinctures, vitamins etc?

The tide had turned. The pristine art of pure Naturopathy had come to an end. We were/are now lumped in with the growing eclectic / holistic attitude of medicines.

And so to make things quite clear, I define myself as a practitioner of pure Naturopathy or Nature Cure. I am an educator of natural living and natural healing - it is that simple.

As Kalyan Sarkar stated in a recent response to this topic - please do not get confused with the nomenclature - instead look for the line of truth that runs through and supports the philosophy of natural health.

I will post a couple of articles written by Mr Jaffrey, in which he liberally uses the old term - tried and true - called Naturopathy.”

Hope that’s clear, people might practice anything and call themselves anything, but what remains true is whether they are following natural laws or medicated reactive approaches. Highlighted few key points

Be blessed

When we talk about true nature cure we are talking about our body's inbuilt defence mechanism which is designed in a such a way that it can help in curing on its own without any external thing.

Whereas in naturopathy we are using something external be it natural food or massage etc, mainly nature-based product to cure oneself.

Thank you.
