I am a 45 year old female with 2 children. About 5 months ago developed ulcerative colitis. I am on treatment for this. I was diagnosed with hypothyroid about 13 yrs ago. Stopped medication 3 yrs ago, as I attended a workshop on naturopathy. Followed diet for few months. But couldn't continue because I always felt hungry and weak. About 4 yrs ago developed hip joint pain. Then a year ago developed pain in my left shoulder. What diet plan can I follow to get rid of all these issues?

Hi Nalini. One of the stories above is mine. I was diagnosed with colitis in 2014. I adopted a natural lifestyle in 2015 & since then I have been medicine free, disease free. The fact that you could not sustain an earlier diet plan indicates you were not well supported by the care giver in your journey of making changes. Hypothyroidism is majorly a gut issue. Due to constant exposure from wrong food habits and emotions roller coasters it causes this issue.

To eat clean is the only way to heal this. Dairy eggs fish meat grains cooked coffee tea alcohol outside ready foods pickles soda oils in cooking etc are all acid forming and mucous generating foods that impacts the gut and causes a lot of other symptoms including Hashimoto’s. This is major reason for hypothyroidism.

I would suggest that you go completely raw to heal from this condition because the slower you detox, you will see a variety of symptoms that are more neurological in nature that might make you goto a doctor and run around for answers. They are all going to possibly happen during your healing.

There are many other factors that are related that can cause hypothyroidism. 

What was your daily intake on naturopathic diet ? After you stopped naturopathic diet, and your medicines, what was your lifestyle? 

If you led a non vegan lifestyle, the issue has only progressed imo to inflame your joints. Ulcerative colitis is again a connected issue. 

Medicines will only feed the viral condition and make things worse. There is a good journey on ulcerative colitis on wellcure journey section.

You constantly feel hungry on raw because your body is not clean enough yet to stop asking for essential natural sugars to make your body work. Once the conditions heal, your hunger reduces. You don’t stop feeding a child if he has a tendency to feel hungry often. Do you ? Similarly feed the right raw food when you are hungry yourself. 

Follow this :-

Morning on empty stomach 

  • Celery juice 500 ml filtered / ash gourd juice / cucumber juice/ Green juice with any watery vegetable like ashgourd / cucumber / ridge gourd / bottle gourd / carrot / beet with ginger and lime filtered/ tender coconut water or more pure veggie juice 

Afternoon from 12 :-  

  • A bowl of fruits - don’t mix melons and other fruits. Eat melons alone. Eat citrus alone 
  • Followed by a bowl of veg salad
  • Dinner is also a fruit or veg salad / smoothies. If u cannot switch to full raw right away, optionally, only dinner must be cooked . Dinner 2-3 hrs before sleep with Gluten free, oilfree unpolished grains or dals 30% and 70% veggies. 
  • Please take enema for 30 days with Luke warm water and then slowly reduce the freq. this is not a substitute for daily nature call . Consult an expert as needed 
  • Include some exercises that involves moving all your parts ( neck , shoulder, elbows, wrist , hip bending twisting , squats, knees, ankles ) along with the 1 hr of workout when possible 
  • See if u can go to the morning sun for sometime in a day 30 mins atleast. 
  • Ensure that you are asleep between 10-2 which is when the body needs deep sleep.
  • Put a wet cloth on your stomach for 30 mins daily 
  • If symptoms increase, switch to more of juicing fruits and vegetables 3-4 lts. As days progress you will start eliminating more and more and see more symptoms in your condition. Don’t worry or panic . Expect things.

What to Avoid :- 

  • Avoid refined oils, fried food , packaged ready to eat foods, dairy in any form including ghee, refined salt and sugar , gluten , refined oils meat eggs fish coffee tea alcohol , oils in any form
  • Avoid mental stress by not thinking about things you cannot control. Present is inevitable. Future can be planned. Stay happy. Happiness is only inside yourself . I have stopped taking non veg about 12 yrs ago. Last 5 years, have stopped taking egg also. I have been taking 1 or 2 cups of tea or coffee a day. I have stopped this fir last 5 days.
I have been doing exercises, Surya namaskar (3 sets) for 3 months regularly, shear before that it was on and off. Meditation is also on and off.
I was never overweight. When diagnosed with hypothyroid I was abt 60 kg. Now I am 51 kg.
We usually don't eat out a lot, mover use maida, don't buy packaged food...

What can I eat before noon?

I think so. Initially I didn't realise. But lately I am thinking I may be.

My children are 16 and 10 yrs old. Is it better for them to follow this diet as well from this age?

Since they are school going they can't eat when they are hungry.

Where do we get our nutrition from ? 

  • Food , I can hear you say. But the deeper secrets of healthful living guide us to acknowledge the nutrition we receive from the five elements , nutrition we receive from being deeply in love with ourselves, nutrition we receive from strong family connections and friends who are ready to stand on the line when there is an emergency in your life. Nutrition we receive from finding and pursuing a meaningful livelihood, the one that nurtures out inner calling as well as meeting our financial needs, is equally water and food for our inner being. These are some tips on how we can increase nutrition absorption, by spending time with ourselves, self-care , nature walks , family bonding , sun basking, meaningful employment etc.
  • Food is of course the paramount factor. Something was missing from your daily food routine , along with some other missing link, which you can research for yourself, to come to reflect clearly on why you were feeling so hungry and weak. Food needs to have five factors for it to be healing and cleansing and aid in nutrition absorption. 1. Fibre ~ naturally present fibre , bran doesn't count because at first we remove bran from the package that nature had sent it in, and the we attempt to enhance food value of other refined foods by adding bran.   2. Water ~When food lacks natural water, body is forced into dehydration in order to assimilate this water devoid food. Of course we can keep adding the tap water in pulses or grains, but this doesn't count as natural water that exists in tomatoes and cucumbers. 3. Life Force ~ Packaged foods do not go stale while freshly squeezed coconut or almond milk goes rancid in an hour. This life force is present in fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts or seeds, but as soon as these are cooked, life begins to diminish. 4. Plant based foods ~ Plant foods are Simpler to digest 5. Whole foods ~ When we break down a food into parts, it reduces the nutrition to a small miniscule portion.
  • Green juices ~ These can be made from Bael fruit leaves{ Stone Apple} /Curry leaves/ Wheat grass or local grass in the park called Dhurva grass/ Tulsi /Basil leaves, Using one leaf at a time and keep changing these for each day of the week. These are rich in Chlorophyll, which is very similar to blood and rejuvenates and nourished the body. Cravings will fall drastically when you have drunk this juice, 120 ml or more daily for 1 week. Drink this first thing in morning, on empty stomach and leave a gap of 1 hour or 2 , before eating something.
  • Morning cleansing of the body ~ What if you are taking all the nutrition , but the absorption is very low. If you have a full glass, you cannot add more before you empty some of the contents. Allow your body to empty it's contents by giving a gap between last night's dinner and today's cooked.Begin your day only with fruits for breakfast. Since they will help clean your body, your pains will diminish plus better food absorption means all that effort you are putting in changing your lifestyle, is not going down the drain.
  • Sun Charging ~ The source of all life is also the primary healer of all ailments. Sitting in the sun, is the si for most effective way to increase nutrition absorption and kick-start cleansing of your body. In Nature Cure, it is understood that only lack of cleanliness , will attract mosquitoes! Similarly in the body, only because of certain backlog in cleaning, body initiates a process to clean itself. This cleansing process has been categorised and diagnosed by humans into names like Colitis, Gastritis, Hypo or Hyper thyroid, Asthma, Diabetes, Psoriasis, Pain in joints, Cancer etc. When the plumbing in our house has a blockage, what is our response , we use strong cleaning agents to wash the dirt down or apply pressure from outside. The body is doing the same by increasing pressure in the blood flow, which we experience as pain! Strongest cleansing agents are fresh fruits and fresh vegetables. Organic produce is the best of course!
  • Hydrotherapy ~ Keeping a wet towel, wrung out so that not dripping, in your stomach , for half hour , morning and evening. Whenever in pain or discomfort ,you may choose to take this therapy. However, this is only a therapy , to be taken till you get better, and not added as a lifestyle. This must be done on empty stomach.
  • Air Circulation ~ Deep , regular , rhythmic breathing needs to be practised. Take care to stay outdoors when you practice deep breathing. When you inhale, hold your breath for a bit, and after you exhale , hold your breath again. Repeat this Inhale, Hold, Exhale , Hold process for ten times. Every week , double the repeatitions , till you reach 60 or twenty minutes. Also keep your doors and windows open all the time and spend as much time outdoors as possible.
  • Sleep  ~ Dalai Lama says ,"Sleep is the best Meditation." And it's true. Bring a balance in your day by increasing sleeping time to 9 or 10 or even more hours. The more you sleep, the quicker you heal. 
  • Salads ~ Add a 200 grams or more salad before your cooked meal. The salad needs to be without salt for maximum nutrition. Only an uncooked Salad , will be give best nutrition absorption, of course you may mix cooked foods for a change, but as long as you are adding enough Nutrition in your daily routine, every day, you can afford to take a break once in a while. But if you haven't added most of the above Nutrition factors, then keep your Salads salt free and complete uncooked.
  • Gratitude Diary ~ When we count our blessings, we are sharing our appreciation of what we have , with the universe. Whatever we give out, it comes back to us, multiplied many times. Try to give your best, in your full awareness, daily. You will be surprised how the power of karma works.

नमस्ते,

आपकी समस्या के हिसाब से आप  को निम्नलिखित तरीके अपनाने चाहिए-

  • नींद- रात्रि में 7 से 8 घंटे की नींद अवश्य ले इससे शरीर से दूषित पदार्थ बाहर निकलते हैं !
  • प्रतिदिन सूर्योदय के पश्चात 45 मिनट धूप में व्यतीत करें इससे शरीर की अंतः स्रावी ग्रंथियां सुचारू रूप से अपना कार्य करती हैं, विटामिन डी की प्राप्ति होती है।
  • प्रतिदिन प्रातः गुनगुने पानी, नींबू एवं शहद का सेवन करें इससे आंतों से दूषित पदार्थ बाहर निकल जाते हैं ।
  • जूस- प्रतिदिन अनन्नास, पपीता या खीरे के जूस का सेवन करें ।
  • भोजन- हल्के सुपाच्य मौसमी फल व हरी पत्तेदार सब्जियों से युक्त भोजन को खूब चबा चबाकर सेवन करें ,इससे भोजन का पाचन आसानी से होता है !
  • मिट्टी के घड़े में रखे हुए जल को जब भी प्यास लगे बैठ कर धीरे-धीरे सेवन करें।
  • उपवास यदि संभव हो तो 2 से 3 दिन तक किसी मौसमी फल या हरी पत्तेदार सब्जी पर उपवास रहें।
  •  रात्रि का भोजन सायं 5:00 से 7:00 के बीच अवश्य कर लें।
  • एक सूती कपड़ा ले लीजिए उसमें सेंधा नमक बालू व सरसों मिलाकर पोटली बनाने चाहिए, तवे पर सरसों का तेल रखकर गर्म करके गर्मागर्म पोटली से दर्द वाली जगहों की सिकाई कीजिए (अवधि 15 मिनट)
  •  भोजन में लहसुन व प्याज की मात्रा बढ़ा लीजिए इनमें anti-inflammatory गुण होते हैं जो दर्द और सूजन को कम करते हैं।
  • आसन -सर्वांगासन, हलासन ;थायराइड ग्रंथि पर दबाव डालते हैं इससे थायराइड की सक्रियता बढ़ती है।
  • योगिक सूक्ष्म व्यायाम- पैर के पंजों को ऊपर -नीचे ,दाएं -बाएं, दक्षिणावर्त -वामावर्त दिशा में घुमाएं ,पैरों को मोड़ एवं फैलाएं ।
  • हाथ की मुट्ठी बांधे खोलें, मुट्ठी को चारों तरफ घूमांए ,दक्षिणावर्त वामावर्त दिशा में ,हाथों को मोड़े फैलाएं ,दोनों हाथों की अंगुलियों को कंधे पर रखकर चारों तरफ घूमांए, मांसपेशियों व  स्नायु की का लचीलापन बना रहता है ,रक्त संचार बढ़ता है!

निषेध-जानवरों से प्राप्त भोज्य पदार्थ ,क्रोध, ईर्ष्या, चिंता तनाव, चीनी व मैदे से बनी हुई चीजें ,डिब्बाबंद भोज्य पदार्थ!

हेलो,

कारण - शरीर में अम्ल (acid) की अधिकता के कारण ऐसा होता है। ऐसिड की अधिकता से रक्त में विकार और माँसपेशियों में कड़ापन खिंचाव उत्पन्न होता है। शरीर में मौजूद फ़्लूइड toxic हो जाने के कारण दर्द की अनुभूति होती है।

प्राकृतिक चिकित्सा के अंतर्गत आहार ही दवा है। रोग और स्वास्थ भी एक है क्योंकि 

प्राणशक्ति हमें ऊर्जा दे रही होती है तो वह स्वास्थ्य की स्थिति है। जब हमारी प्राण शक्ति हमारे शरीर के अंदर विषाणुओं (toxic) को साफ़ करने में लग जाती है तो वह अस्वस्थ होने की स्थिति होती है।

समाधान - खीरा + नीम के पत्ते का पेस्ट दर्द वाले हिस्से पर रखें। 20मिनट तक रख कर साफ़ कर लें। सुर्य की रोशनी उसी जगह पर लगाएँ।

दिन में दो बार तिल के तेल से घड़ी की सीधी दिशा (clockwise) में और घड़ी की उलटी दिशा (anti clockwise)में मालिश करें। नरम हाथों से बिल्कुल भी प्रेशर नहीं दें। अनुलोम विलोम, आंतरिक कुंभक और बाह्य कुंभक करें। सर्वांगआसन और सूर्य नमस्कार 5 बार करें। दुध या दुध से बना कोई चीज़ ना लें। नीम के पत्ते का और खीरा पेस्ट अपने पेट पर रखें। 20मिनट तक रख कर साफ़ कर लें।

शरीर को यह ज्ञान है कि ख़ुद को स्वस्थ कैसे रखना है। हम इस बात से अनभिज्ञ हैं। जब हमारी 

प्राण शक्ति ने सिर्फ़ अपना काम बदल लिया क्योंकि हमने अपनी ग़लत आदतों के वजह से उसे ऐसा करने पर मजबूर किया है। अब उसको सही खुराक से मदद करें और उसपर विश्वास बनाए रखें। किसी प्राकृतिक चिकित्सक के देख रेख में टोना लें। जिससे आँत की प्रदाह को शांत किया जा सके। एनिमा किट मँगा लें। यह किट ऑनलाइन मिल जाएगा। इससे 200ml पानी गुदाद्वार से अंदर डालें और प्रेशर आने पर मल त्याग करें। ऐसा दिन में दो बार करना है अगले 21 दिनों के लिए। ये करना है ताकि शरीर में मोजुद विषाणु निष्कासित हो जाये। इसके बाद हफ़्ते में केवल एक बार लेना है उपवास के अगले दिन। टोना का फ़ायदा तभी होगा जब आहार शुद्धि करेंगे।

आकाश, वायु, अग्नि, जल, पृथ्वी ये पाँच तत्व आपके शरीर में रोज़ खुराक की तरह जाना चाहिए।

पृथ्वी और शरीर का बनावट एक जैसा 70% पानी से भरा हुआ। पानी जो कि फल, सब्ज़ी से मिलता है।

1 आकाश तत्व- एक खाने से दूसरे खाने के बीच में विराम दें। रोज़ाना 15 घंटे का उपवास करें जैसे रात का भोजन 7 बजे तक कर लिया और सुबह का नाश्ता 9 बजे लें।

2 वायु तत्व- लंबा गहरा स्वाँस अंदर भरें और रुकें फिर पूरे तरीक़े से स्वाँस को ख़ाली करें रुकें फिर स्वाँस अंदर भरें ये एक चक्र हुआ। ऐसे 10 चक्र एक टाइम पर करना है। ये दिन में चार बार करें।

पवनमुक्त आसन करें।

3 अग्नि तत्व- सूरर्य उदय के एक घंटे बाद या सूर्य अस्त के एक घंटे पहले का धूप शरीर को ज़रूर लगाएँ। सर और आँख को किसी सूती कपड़े से ढक कर। जब भी लेंटे अपना दायाँ भाग ऊपर करके लेटें ताकि आपकी सूर्य नाड़ी सक्रिय रहे।

4 जल तत्व- खाना खाने से एक घंटे पहले नाभि के ऊपर गीला सूती कपड़ा लपेट कर रखें और खाना के 2 घंटे बाद भी ऐसा करना है।

मेरुदंड स्नान के लिए अगर टब ना हो तो एक मोटा तौलिया गीला कर लें बिना निचोरे उसको बिछा लें और अपने मेरुदंड को उस स्थान पर रखें।

मेरुदंड (स्पाइन) सीधा करके बैठें। हमेशा इस बात ध्यान रखें और हफ़्ते में 3 दिन मेरुदंड का स्नान करें। 

5 पृथ्वी- सब्ज़ी, सलाद, फल, मेवे, आपका मुख्य आहार होगा। आप सुबह सफ़ेद पेठे 20ग्राम पीस कर 100 ml पानी में मिला कर पीएँ। 2 घंटे बाद फल नाश्ते में लेना है। कोई एक तरीक़े का फल पानी में भिगोये हुए सुखा फल के साथ लें।

दोपहर में 12 बजे फिर से इसी जूस को लें। इसके एक घंटे बाद खाना खाएँ।शाम को 5 बजे सफ़ेद पेठे (ashguard) 20 ग्राम पीस कर 100 ml पानी मिला। 2घंटे तक कुछ ना लें। रात के सलाद में हरे पत्तेदार सब्ज़ी को डालें। कच्चा पपीता 50 ग्राम कद्दूकस करके डालें। कभी सीताफल ( yellow pumpkin)50 ग्राम ऐसे ही डालें। कभी सफ़ेद पेठा (ashgurad) 30 ग्राम कद्दूकस करके डालें। ऐसे ही ज़ूकीनी 50 ग्राम कद्दूकस करके डालें। इसी प्रकार हरा गोभी, बंद गोभी, गाजर, चुकन्दर भी कद्दूकस करके डालें। हर दिन मुख्य सब्ज़ी किसी एक की मात्रा अधिक बाँकि सब थोड़ा थोड़ा डालें। ताज़ा नारियल पीस कर मिलाएँ। कभी काजू बादाम अखरोट मूँगफली भिगोए हुए पीस कर मिलाएँ। 

लाल, हरा, पीला शिमला मिर्च 1/4 हिस्सा हर एक का मिलाएँ। इसे बिना नमक के खाएँ। नमक सेंधा ही प्रयोग करें। नमक की मात्रा दोपहर के खाने में भी बहुत कम लें। सब्ज़ी पकने बाद उसमें नमक डालें। नमक पका कर या अधिक खाने से शरीर में (fluid)  की कमी हो जाती है। रात का खाना 8 बजे खाएँ।एक नियम हमेशा याद रखें ठोस (solid) खाने को चबा कर तरल (liquid) बना कर खाएँ। तरल (liquid) को मुँह में घूँट घूँट पीएँ। खाना ज़मीन पर बैठ कर खाएँ। खाते वक़्त ना तो बात करें और ना ही TV और mobile को देखें। ठोस (solid) भोजन के तुरंत बाद या बीच बीच में जूस या पानी ना लें। भोजन हो जाने के एक घंटे बाद तरल पदार्थ (liquid) ले सकते हैं।

ऐसा करने से हाज़मा कभी ख़राब नहीं होगा।

जानवरों से उपलब्ध होने वाले भोजन वर्जित हैं।

तेल, मसाला, और गेहूँ से परहेज़ करेंगे तो अच्छा होगा। चीनी के जगह गुड़ का सेवन करें।

हफ़्ते में एक दिन उपवास करें। शाम तक केवल पानी लें, प्यास लगे तो ही पीएँ। शाम 5 बजे नारियल पानी लें और 2 घंटे बाद सलाद लें।
