Read moreNatural diet – also known as a raw diet or raw foodism – is a way of eating that includes only uncooked or raw foods. This diet consists of fresh fruits, vegetables, and legumes, the raw food diet needs careful planning and lifestyle adjustments to follow.
Followers of the natural diet believe that cooking (in any form) could destroy or kill the nutrients and health benefits of the food those present. Other raw food followers believe that cooking foods in certain oils or at certain temperatures can make food harmful or even toxic. To get the most nutrition and subsequent health benefits, followers believe in consuming food in the rawest form is best.
A specific diet plan might be possible after a brief case-taking along with a recording of dietary dairy which details the dietary pattern on a daily basis.
Still here are some basic principles that you could follow:
- Consume a high-protein breakfast. Don't skip a meal or food for breakfast in the name of dieting.
- Avoid sugared drinks and artificial or synthetic fruit juices.
- Consume a lot of dietary fibers that are rich in fruits and vegetables.
- Stop coffee, tea, alcohol, social drugs, and sedentary lifestyle habits.
- Drink lots of water.
- Exercise at least an hour if possible. Alternative you may walk one side to your work if it is less than 2 kilometers or use stairs while you climb down instead of the lift.
- Cut down on sweets, oils, ghee, and non-vegetarian diet.
- Avoid drinking water during meals.
- Cut down your calorie intake and increase your calorie burn up.
- Eat your food in a very slowly and properly.
- Practice Yoga, Jogging, Cycling or Brisk Walking.
Dear health seeker Siva Kolli,
You may start your weight loss program by cutting down the intake of milk, meat, eggs, and pulses, processed fried, preserved sweets, are to be strictly avoided. Cereals must be taken in small quantities only. It will help in the cure if the person goes without any cereal food twice a week, taking only vegetables, fruits, and a little coconut. Fatty foods too are to be avoided besides taking not more than the minimum on other days.
THE BROAD PRINCIPLES
It is good to observe a no-breakfast plan. Nature-Cure doesn't approve of the habit of eating early in the morning. Sleep gives strength and energy to do the work, but never hunger "Work is the biological justification for eating "says Acharya K. L.Sarma, if you want to eat you must deserve it by working for it.
Allopaths speak of the balanced diet- a diet in which the positive and negative elements are balanced. But what is wanted in this case is not a balanced diet, because that will only help in the maintenance of the status quo. The equilibrium has already been upset by the eating of foods highly unbalanced on the wrong side - the negative side- for decades and in many cases for generations. For making up for the past wrong living they must take a diet which will be highly unbalanced but on the positive or protective foods and less of the nutritive ones. They must take in a great deal more of vegetables, herbs, and fruits then of cereals. Care must be taken not to destroy or remove any of the vital elements in the foods which are taken. Care must be taken not to upset the Vital Economy in adjusting the quantity of food.
Let not the patient make any abrupt changes in his habits and slowly rectify the lifestyle.
SPEAKING PRACTICALLY
These are the broad principles on which the treatment should be based.
Persons who have been accustomed to taking a heavy breakfast and afternoon lunch will not be able to give it up easily. For them the broad guidelines will be:
6 to 7 am: A short brisk walk before or after answering calls of nature
8 am: Small amounts of flaked rice with a cup of Dhania tea (refer my recipe in my account)
11 am: Principle meal of very much of vegetables than cereals. Here again, the patient will benefit by proceeding slowly, He may steadily increase his quota of vegetables and decrease the cereal quota. I may say here that there is no limit to this. One can with advantage subsist entirely on vegetables. The vegetables must be conservatively cooked, and there must always be a dish of a salad of raw vegetables. Some coconut scrappings and a cup of coconut milk may be taken along with this meal, care must always be taken not to overeat. Follow the rules of the Vital Economy.
3 p.m: A cup of fruit juice.
6 p.m ....one glass of coconut milk and fruits.
Work and eating
This plan that I have chalked out above is for people who do not have to do any strenuous work in the day time. If it is otherwise, what is prescribed for the night should be taken in the day time and the principle meal must be taken at night.
It is an approach toba fast, avoid all cereals on the day preceding and following it.
Fasting
Fasting or at least an approach to a fast may be undertaken with considerable advantage. For one day or even two days, in the fortnight. It subsists entirely on liquid food taken in small quantities, at the most three times in the day call it an approach to a fast. Anyone can be chosen from the following:
A cup of bran ( rice or wheat) tea.
diluted fruit juice
Vegetable soup
Diluted raw vegetable juice or tender coconut water.
One small glass of any one of these may be taken 3 or 4 times in the day. To any of these an ounce of the juice of fresh green grass - crush the grass in a mortar, sprinkle some water if needful, extract the juice by squeezing and filter through a piece of cloth- may be added.
The following plan may be adopted for a week:
1st day.....Avoiding cereals
2nd day...approach to fast, taking juices only
3rd day...same as 2nd day
4th day...fast
5th day...fruits on6
6th day...regular meals,
One can have the full fast and approach to a fast on an alternate fortnight
After a month or so of this treatment, the patient will be able to attend his daily work, if it is not strenuous, even during the fast, but it is advisable to have complete rest on the day of fast.
BOWEL CLEANLINESS:
AS and when feel discomfort on account of constipation, non-violent enema of 250 m.l.cold water may be availed as per need, no restrictions for numbers of enema.
EXERCISE:
Some mild forms of exercise will be helpful. Usually, a short brisk walk, say for one or two k.ms. both morning and evening will do. But the patient must not tire himself by too much exercise.
BATHS:
Mild sun bath may be taken in the early morning sun followed by full bath Spinal bath will be very helpful.
In short, what is required is an all-round Natural rejuvenation (My blog on rejuvenation may please be referred, available in the section Body Wisdom)
It is not necessary that one should follow the exact plans that have been indicated above. One may as well chalk out a different plan consistent of course with the broad principles talked about that I have enunciated.
NOTE. It goes without saying that the patient must not go back to his old ways of life after he gets cured. If he is anxious to maintain himself in that state of health, he must follow the general rules of health laid down for all people, for the rest of his life.
Wishing you a speedy recovery
