Fibrosis is nothing but damage and scarring of any tissue in our body. When the condition happens in our lung it is often referred to as pulmonary fibrosis. Pulmonary fibrosis is a lung disease that occurs when lung tissue becomes damaged and scarred. This thickened, stiff tissue makes it more difficult for your lungs to work properly. As pulmonary fibrosis worsens, you become progressively more short of breath.
The scarring that occurs in the lungs are associated with pulmonary fibrosis and can be caused by a multitude of factors. But in most cases, doctors can't pinpoint what's causing the problem. When a cause can't be found, the condition is termed idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis or cause is unknown
The lung damage caused by pulmonary fibrosis can't be repaired, but medications and therapies can sometimes help ease symptoms and improve quality of life. For some people, a lung transplant might be appropriate.
Some of the signs and symptoms of pulmonary fibrosis which might include: Shortness of breath (dyspnea), adry cough, fatigue, unexplained weight loss, aching muscles and joints and widening and rounding of the tips of the fingers or toes (clubbing). The severity of the symptoms vary from person to person and no specific pattern could be established.
Regarding life span and also your age group mentioned I would say you could look for more better options to reverse the condition to normal health. There is no hard and fast rule that the condition could be fatal if you could follow basic remedies that could make you live longer and healthier.
Some home remedies that could be helpful are
- Stop smoking. Smoking is one of the main causes of the development of pulmonary fibroids. It is widely known that smoking significantly causes extreme damage to the lungs. Therefore, it is important to quit inhaling smoke in every possible form. Reducing smoking can majorly reduce the risk of developing pulmonary fibroids
- Water. It is important to stay hydrated. Proper hydration can protect your body from the risk of developing various diseases. Consumption of water eliminates toxins from the body. A toxin-free body is at a lower risk of developing pulmonary fibrosis. You can also drink other healthy fluids such as fruit juices to cleanse the organs of your body. As per Naturopathy, we believe that water drinking is one of the simplest methods of treatments but a very efficient one to remove toxins from the body.
- Citrus fruits. Citrus fruits like lemon, lime, oranges etc are rich in Vitamin C. These stimulate the production of WBCs (White Blood Cells) in the body. White blood cells reduce inflammation in the lungs caused due to pulmonary fibrosis. Fruits can also help reduce scarring in the lung tissue. Therefore, it might be best to include citrus fruits like oranges, grapes, lemons and berries in your diet.
- Green leafy vegetables. Green leafy vegetables, too, are an important source of Vitamin C. Therefore, it is always best advised to include kale, spinach, turnip greens and other green leafy vegetables in your diet which could reduce the inflammation caused by pulmonary fibrosis.
- Practise Breathing exercises and Meditations - This could increase your confidence levels and also could help in reversing the condition and prevent in aggravation of the condition.
The thickening of any tissue is called scarring or fibrosis. Sometimes we have such issues even after surgery. However, pulmonary fibrosis is typical of all the abnormality caused in the lungs due to excess acidosis or acid buildup. High toxemia in the body, blocked lymphatics, not properly functioning excretory organs, constipated colon, lot of medications taken in the past to suppress respiratory issues has suppressed all the lymphatic nodes and they swell up / grow up due to toxin buildup. This inflames the millions of tiny air sacs(alveolus) of the lungs. These walls of the sacs are multiple times thinner than our hair to allow O2 and Co2 to pass seamlessly in and out of the bloodstream. Now when you develop scar tissue, these become thicker and hence breathing also becomes an issue as air cannot pass easily through the tissue that is not designed to pass air. Toxins come from animal foods, carcinogenic smoke, smells from chemical agents, agarbatti, being a secondary smoker and many more triggers that try to bring the acidity outside the body such as cold, cough, etc. Basically, its accumulation of toxins across many years because of not working on fixing the root causes but just trying to suppress the symptoms.
Coming to your questions
1) Life expectancy - No one knows the life span of anyone on earth. However, given the age (20-25), there are higher chances of recovery via a natural healing process. The body heals faster.
2) Symptoms - Symptoms are every single discomfort related to breathing properly - can be cough, cold, asthma, wheezing, etc. Pulmonary fibrosis is a generic term with scar tissue. They may have other issues not related to respiration too because the entire body is suffering from chronic toxemia. Hence other organs will also be impacted.
Suggested ways of reversing if interested are to follow a whole food plant-based lifestyle with ONLY raw in his current condition. Fruits/vegetables/greens in all forms - juicing and eating. Absolutely no cooked in any form. In this condition, it's very easy to get into the cystic state. They may get into a stage of point of no return where even natural healing won't help them to bring back from that state. You see the body has only so much vitality to sustain homeostasis. If the ability of the body to maintain that is far less than what is needed to reverse, then the eliminations will be far too much to bear. Either way, no one can predict this or measure this. As humans, it's our duty to try the best and hope for the best.
