Your friend should take foods / herbs which build his immunity -
1. Tulsi: Chew few tulsi leaves or boil in water & sip when thirsty.
2. Haldi: Raw turmeric / amba haldi is available. Add it to the veggie juices. Or if using haldi powder, add a pinch to your lemon.
3. Ginger: Add it to veggie juices. Or add a few drops to lemon or to your tulsi tea.
Also its very important to spend time in sun and fresh air. Sun is a natural healer. And with fresh air, body will get the desired oxygen to carry nutrients to all cells and waste material from cells to excretory organs. This will help in cleaning up the blood and then body will be able to fight the swine flu.
Stay away from acidic foods - dairy, non veg, packaged foods, salt, white sugar, refined oil, grains.
Hello. First & foremost - understand the reason - a vius has attacked the body because the body was acidic in nature. Just like flies get attracted to garbage, germs get attracted to our acidic bodies. It doesn't matter whether it is a virus or bacteria or dengue or swine flu. The reason for all is the same. - Sleep - Your friend should rest a lot. Sleep as much as he wants. Body heals best in a relaxed mode. It can focus on dealing with the flu.
- Give digestive rest - Don't eat heavy foods, else body's energy will get diverted to digestion. Let body work on healing. Eat only when hungry or thirsty. Eat easy-to-digest foods - fruits are the best!! Have a lot of liquids: fruit juice, coconut water, veggie juice, veggie soup, nimboo paani. No restriction on these, have as much as you like, just ensure you take seasonal fruits & veggies.

Every season there is news of some flu or the other. Many of these are scaremongering tactics to get you to get a preventive vaccine or opt for medicines.
We should understand that pathogens like all organisms are attracted to their source of food. If the body is toxic, pathogens are happy because they found their food. They are in fact cleaning your body but we think of it as fever.
So the solution would be to keep the body clean with a healthy lifestyle - natural foods, enough sunlight and air exposure, exercise and mental poise. When the body is clean, we don't attract the pathogens which cause these fevers.If the the body is clean from inside , the Virus has no power to attack.
In case a person has already contracted fever, ask them to take complete rest and have only fluids like diluted fresh fruit juice, coconut water or juicy fruits as per hunger. When the body has got cleaned, the symptoms will subside.
