Hello.. I have incorporated a lot of raw in my diet.. Eating salad causes a lot of gas formation and bloating as my body type is Vata.. How do I combat this issue?

Read moreKavitha, that’s great. Also finish all raw food quota of the day before cooked. I too get bloated if I eat cooked in between and then raw sometime later even after a gap. Now I hardly have any such problem. I am on high raw. I eat cooked in the night in small portions. Also you can follow me on insta where I put my daily raw food intake. You can also find a lot of channels on insta with raw foods. Basically before eating raw, we need to fix your gut health. Can you start cucumber juice 500ml daily everyday on empty stomach ? U can mix mint with it and drink it filtered. Even after that 3 days you do this . Fast till 12 after that if you can till 12. If u can’t , then next hunger green juice with any watery vegetable and then a good portion of fruits and then vegetables ( don’t overeat hard veggies. Include greens) , give a good 3-4 hr gap and then eat cooked 30% and 70% steamed veggie.

Since how long have you started eating salads or raw?
Do you mix raw and cooked like channa or potato in salads ? Are you a vegan ? Do you eat when you are sufficiently hungry or you eat bcoz it’s the time to eat ?
Kindly answer these while I give some reasons for gas and flatulence.
Its possible that in the past your wrong lifestyle may have led to an unhealthy gut. Animal foods are some of the major culprits.if an excess of protein is eaten, it’s digestion will be imperfect and through putrificafion in the food canal, poisonous gases are produced which can also affect the gut signals to brain and nervous system as a whole. If excess of fat was ingested, it causes difficulty in digestion of other foods, an excess of starch in the past will undergo fermentation and produce carbonic acid gas. This may be harmless when passed out, but if there are instructions to it’s elimination, there may be this discomfort called flatulence.
What I suggest is assuming you are a vegan and you have removed animal foods from your life, go on a juice fast for 3 days including ashgourd juice, banana stem juice ( u can mix this with ash gourd) , tender coconut. Start with ashgourd on empty stomach, followed by a green juice filtered ( mint spinach coriander, ginger and lime , followed by banana stem juice , followed by tender coconut. Also I would advice that you buy an enema kit and take a water enema for 15 days daily after your regular motions after the 3 day fast. Please let us know the feedback and status after that.
Hi. Have you started eating raw recently? If yes, give some time to your body to adjust. In any case, try a few things:
1. Eat smaller portions of raw & increase quantity gradually.
2. If you are eating veggie salads with cooked meal, eat them before the cooked meal. Finish salad & then go on to the cooked meal or better still give half an hour gap between the two.
3. Be only on fruits from the time you wake up to noon. No restriction on quantity, eat as much as you want as per hunger, do multiple rounds of fruit if need be. Eat seasonal fruits. This time is very important from the circadian rythm point of view. Elimination function is at its peak, so don't divert body's energy by eating anything other than fruits.
4. Eat a generous serving of fruits in the evening too.
5. Have lots of liquids through the day - coconut water, lemon juice, fruit juice, etc
Do you know gas & bloating can also happen because of overeating or emotional reasons like stress? Hope you are not stressed about the food you eat :-). Enjoy the journey. Do everything with a lot of calmness and gratitude. All discomfort will vanish away soon.

Smitha, I am on this raw food journey since last 5 months. In fact,the bloating problem was always there triggered with eating of certain vegetables and legumes such as cauliflower, chana, rajma etc. The wind stayed trapped and never got released for many years..ever since I am on raw, the accumulated gas has started getting released and doesnt stay trapped inside..but I still feel bloated post my salads intake..I will try going on the 3 days fast that you have suggested as and when I can get myself to do it..as of now, this change of switching cooked with raw also seems huge... hopefully will try it soon..I am following the practise of having raw before cooked..

कारण - गैस बनने का कारण सलाद नहीं सलाद के मिक्स करने के तरीक़े में हो सकता। सलाद शरीर की ज़रूरत है। कफ, पित्त या वात प्रधान शरीर के लिए उपयोक्त आहार है।
समाधान - कच्चे सलाद में कुछ पका हुआ भोजन ना मिलाएँ और सलाद बिना नमक के खाएँ।
सलाद खाने के बाद 5 घंटे तक कुछ ना खाएँ।
खाने के अन्य नियमों का भी ध्यान रखें।
जीवन शैली- 1आकाश तत्व - एक खाने से दुसरे खाने के बीच में अंतराल (gap) रखें।
फल के बाद 3 घंटे, सलाद के बाद 5 घंटे, और पके हुए खाने के बाद 12 घंटे का (gap) रखें।
2.वायु तत्व - प्राणायाम करें, आसन करें। दौड़ लगाएँ।
3.अग्नि - सूर्य की रोशनी लें।
4.जल - अलग अलग तरीक़े का स्नान करें। मेरुदंड स्नान, हिप बाथ, गीले कपड़े की पट्टी से पेट की गले और सर की 20 मिनट के लिए सेक लगाए।
स्पर्श थरेपी करें। मालिश के ज़रिए भी कर सकते है। नारियल तेल से
घड़ी की सीधी दिशा (clockwise) में और घड़ी की उलटी दिशा (anti clockwise)में मालिश करें। नरम हाथों से बिल्कुल भी प्रेशर नहीं दें।
5.पृथ्वी - सुबह खीरा 1/2 भाग + धनिया पत्ती (10 ग्राम) पीस लें, 100 ml पानी मिला कर पीएँ। यह juice आप कई प्रकार के ले सकते हैं। पेठे (ashguard ) का जूस लें और कुछ नहीं लेना है। नारियल पानी भी ले सकते हैं। पालक पत्ते धो कर पीस कर 100ml पानी डाल पीएँ। दुब घास 25 ग्राम पीस कर छान कर 100 ml पानी में मिला कर पीएँ। कच्चे सब्ज़ी का जूस आपका मुख्य भोजन है। 2 घंटे बाद फल नाश्ते में लेना है।
फल को चबा कर खाएँ। इसका juice ना लें। फल + सूखे फल नाश्ते में लें।
दोपहर के खाने में सलाद + नट्स और अंकुरित अनाज के साथ सलाद में हरे पत्तेदार सब्ज़ी को डालें और नारियल पीस कर मिलाएँ। कच्चा पपीता 50 ग्राम कद्दूकस करके डालें। कभी सीताफल ( yellow pumpkin)50 ग्राम ऐसे ही डालें। कभी सफ़ेद पेठा (ashgurd) 30 ग्राम कद्दूकस करके डालें। ऐसे ही ज़ूकीनी 50 ग्राम डालें।कद्दूकस करके डालें।कभी काजू बादाम अखरोट मूँगफली भिगोए हुए पीस कर मिलाएँ।
लाल, हरा, पीला शिमला मिर्च 1/4 हिस्सा हर एक का मिलाएँ। लें। बिना नींबू और नमक के लें। स्वाद के लिए नारियल और herbs मिलाएँ।
रात के खाने में इस अनुपात से खाना खाएँ 2 कटोरी सब्ज़ी के साथ 1कटोरी चावल या 1रोटी लेएक बार पका हुआ खाना रात को 7 बजे से पहले लें।
6.सेंधा नमक केवल एक बार पके हुए खाने में लें। जानवरों से उपलब्ध होने वाले भोजन वर्जित हैं।
तेल, मसाला, और गेहूँ से परहेज़ करेंगे तो अच्छा होगा। चीनी के जगह गुड़ लें।
7.एक नियम हमेशा याद रखें ठोस(solid) खाने को चबा कर तरल (liquid) बना कर खाएँ। तरल को मुँह में घूँट घूँट पीएँ। खाना ज़मीन पर बैठ कर खाएँ। खाते वक़्त ना तो बात करें और ना ही TV और mobile को देखें।ठोस भोजन के तुरंत बाद या बीच बीच में जूस या पानी ना लें। भोजन हो जाने के एक घंटे बाद तरल पदार्थ ले सकते हैं।
हफ़्ते में एक दिन उपवास करें। शाम तक केवल पानी लें, प्यास लगे तो ही पीएँ। शाम 5 बजे नारियल पानी और रात 8 बजे सलाद लें।
8.उपवास के अगले दिन किसी प्राकृतिक चिकित्सक के देख रेख में टोना लें। जिससे आँत की प्रदाह को शांत किया जा सके। एनिमा किट मँगा लें। यह किट ऑनलाइन मिल जाएगा। इससे 200ml पानी गुदाद्वार से अंदर डालें और प्रेशर आने पर मल त्याग करें। ऐसा दिन में दो बार करना है अगले 21 दिनों के लिए। ये करना है ताकि शरीर में मोजुद विषाणु निष्कासित हो जाये। इसके बाद हफ़्ते में केवल एक बार लेना है उपवास के अगले दिन। टोना का फ़ायदा तभी होगा जब आहार शुद्धि करेंगे।

You have to give a gap of 4 hours before having the next meal. Hope you are doing that. Do not combine cooked with raw till digestion improves and chew your food well. Hope this helps
Please explain in detail the raw diet and cooked diet you follow . Bloating is mostly due to food combinations or other meds or gut health in general.

I eat fruits till noon..Have a vegetable/ green juice just before lunch..lunch is a large helping of salad..evenings is again a glass of vegetable juice and a fruit..dinner is salad with either rice sabzi or millet roti with sabzi..
