Hello Sunil,

The gall bladder is an organ that functions as a reservoir of bile which it delivers to the duodenum in response to the meals.
When the gall bladder is removed, the bile cannot be stored and it moves to the intestine anytime the liver produces it.
Due to the change in the way of the bile delivery to the intestine, the following side effects are possible after the removal of the gall bladder.

  • Diarrhea.
  • Infection.
  • Infection may occur with fever or without fever depending upon the severity of the infection.
  • Constipation.
  • Heartburns.
  • Pain in the abdominal area.
  • Nausea.
  • Difficulty in the digestion of fats.
  • Indigestion.
  • Breathlessness.
  • Fatigue.

Thank you

Dear Sunil,

Thanks for sharing your query with us!

The gallbladder acts as a reservoir of bile produced by the liver to aid in digesting and emulsifying fats. However, owing to wrong lifestyle choices sometimes gall-stones are formed inside the gall-bladder. The traditional mode of treatment for gallstones is often surgical removal on the gall-bladder.

Once the gallbladder is removed, the way food is digested changes. In absence of the gallbladder the secretion of bile is not regulated hence resulting in a digestive load or inefficient digestion. Some of the issues listed below may crop up more often -

  • Severe pains after consuming a meal
  • Abdominal pains after getting up from a lying down position
  • Bitter taste in the mouth
  • Hot flashes
  • Excess urination
  • Feeling short of breath
  • Pain in the abdominal area and back
  • Body unable to handle fatty meals
  • Risk of developing chronic problems with the bowel as its constantly exposed to bile salts from the liver.
  • Liver fatigue leading to other complications

Lifestyle has to be changed completely to manage the symptoms that come with this change. Hence, a low-fat plant-based lifestyle has to be strictly adhered to manage the digestive load.

Having said that, we would like to tell you that body has amazing self-healing capacity and by providing the right inputs and support it is possible to reverse even chronic health issues. The same is applicable for gall bladder stones as well. You would be surprised to know that it is possible to dissolve gall-stones naturally.  Should you want further guidance on this you can explore our Natural Health Coaching Program that helps you in making the transition, step by step.
