Yes. Coffee is acidic by nature & in case of an autoimmune disease, the body's acid-alkaline balance is already disturbed.

Coffee has caffeine as its main ingredient it causes rise in stress hormone - cortisol.

  • This activates central nervous system . For an autoimmune disease patient  sleep is even more important than a normal person to prevent stress related receptor degeneration.
  • Secondly it disturbs acid and base balance.

Those patients who are already habitual of coffee can replace it with herbal tea to satisfy urge and prevent cold turkey symptoms (observed in highly dependent people on withdrawal )

Of course coffee is harmful when one has an autoimmune disease.

One ends up with an auto immune disease when the vitality has already gone low and the body is already burdened with lots of toxins which it is not able to throw out.

What does coffee do? It acts like a drug and drains more of your vitality .... ultimately not leaving enough energy for your body functions.

1. Coffee can mess up your blood sugar. Caffeine impairs insulin action.

2. Coffee disrupts your sleep

3. It boosts stress hormones.

4.It dehydrates you

5.It can increase your risk of heart disease.

6.It messes up your gut. The acidity of coffee itself can cause changes in gut acidity.

7.Coffee consumption may have a negative impact on our kidneys’ ability to retain minerals vital for digestion (and other biological functions), such as magnesium, calcium and zinc

Coffee and tea are nerve stimulants and adds to the toxins in the body. Auto immune is a condition when the medical community thinks the body is attacking itself which is a wierd thing to say. The body is designed to fight an outsider and and in this case an outsider who also loves to feed on coffee and tea. Yes it’s bad. Only a diet high in raw will help and coffee and tea has no place in that.
