I had chikungunya and my kids have suffered from dengue. I was on a liquid diet for a week and fruits for few days and cooked later. I healed faster, I slept well, I managed some house work too and slept a lot. Liquids keeps the temperature from impacting the body adversely. Kids also have recovered from these by being on liquids majorly during fevers and slowly being on fruits thereupon. Keeping the digestion to almost nil will help during fevers

Papaya leaf juice does help in platelet count. But what also really helps is keeping yourself on raw fresh food. Eat only if hungry, and that too only fruits. Initially you may be scared that what if I don’t eat, am I not going to starve, infact its just the opposite. Fever will most likely be accompanied by low appetite. This means body indicates its need to conserve energy and not waste it on digesting cooked food. During period of illness fruits nourish, hydrate and most importantly provide instant energy. Go for bananas (as much as you want) and other seasonal fruits.

All things that grow need a medium to breed in, so do germs. An acidic blood is what allows germs to breed. Fever, cold and cough are ways of the body to eliminate the acid, to not allow an infection. Through pain, body indicates that it needs rest. So sleeping and resting will ensure body gets time to repair. Keep your raw foods more than cooked food. Raw would mean fruits, raw vegetable salads, vegetable juices etc. Fruits help to cleanse the body. Similarly raw vegetable juice and lemon also neutralise the acid within the body and help restore alkaline balance. By being on raw or minimal cooked, you will also conserve energy spent on digestion. Rest both physically and mentally, this is going to be very key in faster recovery. Stay away from gadgets completely. Resting amply will ensure you are giving time to body to cleanse and repair both.

Rest, rest and rest. It’s the main line of defense for Dengue. Eat fruits and very light cooked food this will ensure you are resting digestively also. Keep your raw intake of fruits and vegetable salads high. You could take a concoction of lemon juice & water in the ratio of 1:1, add a few drops of ginger juice, to boost immunity. Also, maalish of joints with mustard oil with crushed garlic gives immense relief. Lots of cold pattis for relief and soups.
