Best Natural Foods For A Plant-based Diet
Nature has already provided foods intended to keep us in perfect health till our last breath. Undue processing of food like refining, adding artificial flavors, aromas or preservatives denatures the food and builds toxicity in the body, which is the starting of disease. But how do we know what is Natural Food? Natural foods are foods that nature has designed for us to eat, as per our body needs. They are best eaten as they exist in their natural state, i.e. as found in nature or with the minimum amount of human intervention in the form of processing. They are nutrition rich, easily absorbable by the body & help it to function at its optimum. Natural foods give us good health, they help us in staying illness-free. The more a food is processed or refined, the more it is likely to lose its nutrition in the refining process. Also, processed foods include artificial agents such as preservatives, chemicals, colour, stabilisers, aromas etc. Such foods leave a toxic residue in the bo
Quarantine Phase - The daily regime.
We all are going through this phase where we are not able to get out of the house and breathe in nature's light. This is the time wherein our mental, spiritual and physical fitness everything is really tested. Here are a few things which you can add in your daily routine to feel productive and enhance your daily growth. Do it with your family and bond together. Let us make the best out of this phase and use this opportunity to connect with one self-outside and inside. 1. Early Riser Yes, we are staying at home all day. But that should not be the reason to sleep in late. Sleeping in late disturbs the circadian rhythm of your body. Waking up early on time with the Sun is a great energy booster. The Sun helps in activating the cells in the body by providing melatonin which energizes you. So, get up early and you have the whole day to utilize and be productive. 2. Dance it out Dance has been found to be therapeutic and the best form of exercise. It not
Sitting is the new smoking
Sitting is a factor in the lives of all of us. A part of our lives is spent sitting down. So, how we sit is very important. Do we sit in the proper posture or do we slouch? What effect can this have on our health and how do we correct it? This article takes a closer look. Sitting and slouching Sitting continuously for many hours can have many health hazards. Some of us are required to sit more than others, hence we either profit or lose according to how we sit at our work, during leisure, while eating etc. depending upon the length of time sitting is demanded of us. Whether we rest or not when sitting, depends upon how we sit and what we sit upon. To do the best quality work when sitting also depends upon how we sit and what we sit upon. Many persons sit to ‘‘slouch''. They are either too poor in health or too tired to stand. For these, we can offer no better suggestion than to strive to improve the general state of health by hygienic ways so that
Tonsils - Our first line of defense
We all know that the human body is more than the sum of its parts. This article focuses on the tiny little nugget-like structures at the back of our throat that commonly is known to get swollen and often removed. Yes, it's the tonsils. What are tonsils? Tonsils refer to a pair of lymph nodes or small masses of lymphoid tissue that lie on each side of the throat and that help protect the body. It is a part of the giant lymphatic system that helps in the elimination of wastes from the surrounding areas. It stands guard as the first line of defence to protect the body against dangers from food or air. The function of the tonsils The lymphatic system is one of the major liquid mediums to carry sewage from the body. Lymph nodes are collection points of toxins from their surrounding areas which eventually drain into the main channel. They contain beneficial bacteria that help break down the acids to be eliminated by the body. Tonsils, being lymph nodes, collect toxins that
Food Cravings – Beat them with lifestyle changes
Part 1 of this blog series took a look at understanding the different causes of food cravings and the difference between craving and hunger. In this second part, we take a closer look at how to address food cravings with lifestyle changes and practical tips. Primary focus Natural foods - Include plant-based raw foods such as fruits, vegetables and greens as a major portion of your meal. Consuming seasonal and locally available fruits act as astringents which help remove all the wrong cravings over time. Hydration – Often the role of hydration is underestimated. Our material in the body, may it be digested food/undigested food/ toxins move only with the help of fluids and muscular movements. The lymphatic system is the sewage system carrying wastes from all the 100 trillion cells to the excretory organs. The blood in turn, carries nutrition. The solids in the GI tract need liquids and fibre for the peristalsis action to be efficient. Hence, drinking 3lts or mo
Garbh Sanskar: Recipe to a Happy Pregnancy
We all are aware of the story of the Mahabharata, wherein Arjuna narrated to Subhadra the art of breaking into the Chakravyu when Abhimanyu was in her womb. Later Abhimanyu could use this technique during warfare. This narration from the Mahabharata teaches us how receptive our unborn are when they are still inside the womb! Another mythological story of Garbh Sanskar is how beautifully Ashtavakra's mother, Sujata, learnt about the art of knowing more things. Sujata started listening to discourses for theintellectual and spiritual growth of her child right from the womb so that the unborn could perceive more knowledge. Garbh Sankar means the education and values we inculcate in our kids when they are leaving their foetal life. We know about some facts like how the child's mind starts conceiving things even in the foetal state. That is why doctors advise a lot on staying healthier and happier during the ante-natal period. The Ante-natal is a period of 9 months before
Office and health - Strike the right balance
The hectic routine of office-goers in today's time has created an adverse impact on their health. Statistics show that most of today's health issues are due to lifestyle. The same bad habits repeated over time accumulate toxins in the body. As per nature cure, accumulation of toxins is the single cause of any disease. In this article, we discuss why it is considered a difficult task to stay healthy naturally for a regular office-goer, along with the solution in the form of simple steps that can be incorporated to ensure a healthy work-life balance. Why does taking care of health become difficult for office goers? Consider a situation when you have a regular 9-5 job. You wake up early in the morning, get ready, and head towards your office after a cup of coffee. Long hours of commute involves sitting most of the time. Breakfast is something on the go or a quick one at a roadside café. During the work hours, in-between multiple meetings and many cups of tea and the u
A Needful Conversation on Soil Theory Vs Germ Theory etc.
Question 1: According to the Pure Nature Cure (PNC), the TOXAEMIA happens before the GERM infestation. Then how would you refute the GERM THEORY, where a dog-bitten person gets rabies or somebody is bitten by mosquito gets malaria/dengue. Both of the persons were quite healthy, before the bites! Response 1: 1. Apparent health may not be real health! The presence of severe toxicity may stay subtle for long, till it's triggered! 2. Pathogens from dog or mosquito are hosted only if the body is TOXAEMIC, prior to the bites. Everyone does not get rabies or malaria, even s/he is bitten! 3. Rabies or malaria are the SYMPTOMS of toxaemic state. While the dog bite and mosquito bite are the TRIGGERS, respectively. 4. It is always if we take measures to suppress the symptoms, while the cause is retained, the health is affected further with the increment of TOXICITY due to the retention of the toxin. 5. In both cases, on the triggers, the body raises FEVER to get rid of the toxaem
What Causes PCOS & How To Prevent It?
In the last decade, PCOS has continued to haunt women of all age groups. Its severity can be accessed from the fact that 7 out of 10 women are diagnosed with PCOS at some stage in their lives. However, it is entirely reversible if one begins to live a healthier life, by being in sync with nature. By following the methods mentioned in this article, hormonal balance can be restored easily, and the feared complications of infertility can cease to exist. What is PCOS? PCOS/PCOD also known as Poly Cystic Ovaries Syndrome, is a hormonal disorder detected in women of childbearing age. The body's hormonal signaling system gets skewed and women with PCOS have a higher level of androgens (male hormones) which leads to an imbalance in the normal functioning of body. The monthly cycle of eggs released for fertilization is disturbed and women with PCOS develop irregular menstrual cycles. The ovaries may develop multiple cysts leading to the term polycystic ovaries. Wha
LAW OF UNITY – A REVISIT (FOOD-WISE)
We need to compulsorily revisit the foundations of Nature Cure frequently to reinforce the dialectic understanding of Nature. In PSYsolution Alumni group, the discussions are prolifically continued on different aspects of understanding Nature. The human understanding is uniquely pursued by each one of us. Some can understand difficult aspect easily, on the other hand, the same person can take longer to understand an easy aspect. The beauty of the collective strive to explore Nature is - we mutually contribute towards each other's understanding, assimilation, execution and finally sharing to continue the chain of learning. Recently, there is a revisit needed on Law of Unity – one of the basic concepts of Nature Cure. The debate was on the statement – “Everything has got everything and we have the capability to extract anything out of anything”. “How can a bitter gourd and a potato be the same?” The functional analysis indeed showcase
FOOD and VITALITY - again and again
In his autobiographical book, ‘The story of my experiments with TRUTH', Mr MK Gandhi shared his experience ofeating meat. He shares: “…I asked my friend the reason and he explained it thus: 'We areweak people because we do not eat meat. The English are able to rule over us because they are meat-eaters. You know how hardy I am, and how great a runner too. It is because I am a meat-eater. Meat-eaters do not have boils or tumours and even if they sometimes happen to have any, these heal quickly. Our teachers and other distinguished people who eat meat are no fools. They know its virtues. You should do likewise. There is nothing like trying. Try, and see what strength it gives….” Mr Gandhi continues… “…All this had its due effect on me. I was beaten. It began to grow on me that meat-eating was good, that it would make me strong and daring, and that, if the whole country took to meat-eating, the English could be overc
FOOD and VITALITY - the debate continues
A friend of mine brings a gift for me. An ashtray made out of white marble stone! Beautifully crafted! She is beaming with excitement while gifting it to me. I am a bit shocked than surprised! What should I do with it? I nor smoke neither allow any visitor to smoke in our house! She argues that I am not appreciating the gift as she expected me to do! I appreciate the craft! Indeed, it is a good work, embossed delicately. This could be a good showpiece but not an ashtray for me. She perhaps sensed the untold statement in my eyes - “The ashtray cannot be considered useful for me for its actual purpose!” She gets annoyed! I am helpless to help her… This article is in continuation with the dialectical understanding of food NOT giving energy or VITALITY. Well, the statement, many times, has been countered intelligently and repeatedly during my interactions with people. One of the recent interactions raised a very intelligent ques
Breast feeding v/s baby foods
Babies should be breast fed We of the school of basic nature - cure have always been recommending breastfeeding of babies, for this is how nature intends babies to be brought up. Of late, even the W.H.O. and the U.N.I.C.E.F. have started urging that babies be breastfed in the interest of improving the standard of health of society as a whole The Member states of W.H.O. are in a sense, committed to the policy of encouraging breastfeeding of babies by their mothers, for an as long time as possible. Mother's health matters At present, the unnatural ways of living adopted by many women during their pre and postnatal stages are responsible for the lowering of their health - level to an extent where breastfeeding by them becomes impossible beyond, at the most, a few weeks. In certain cases, infants have to be kept on bottle feeding straight from the day of the birth as their mothers are very poor in health. Contrast this with those who follow our advice and adopt in the
Sunglasses - Does Mother Nature want us to wear them?
The necessity for wearing sunglasses to protect eyes from light and sunshine has been well established by ''the sunglass manufacturers'' which is quite ill-founded and not true. The manufacturers say that if you don't wear them every time your eyes come in contact with strong light, you are in danger of eye damage. This has become another multi-million dollar business. So, what is the truth? The fact that people who spend most of their lives in strong sunlight without sunglasses and still have good eye sights is completely ignored. The Arabs spend long hours in the desert under strong sunlight without harm to their eyes. The American -Indian spend most of his days in the sunshine. I have never seen a photograph of or known an Indian[ American] to wear sunglasses. The Eskimos live in the constant glare of reflected light from snow. The sunglass manufacturers have never been successful in convincing Eskimos that they need glasses to protect their eyes. Es
Saving Electricity for the health of the Planet!
June 5th is World environment day and for 2019, the theme is air pollution. You may be surprised to know that one of the biggest causes of air pollution in India today is due to thermal power plants which use fossil fuels like coal to generate electricity. These plants spew dangerous toxic gases like sulphur dioxide which cause immense air pollution and damage the health of citizens. As per latest reports, 22 of the 30 most polluted cities are in India. We can strive to do our best in monitoring and controlling the usage of electricity in our homes. This directly links to reduced load on power stations, less demand and lesser pollution. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Electricity is a secondary form of energy which can be generated by using primary sources of energy like Coal, Oil & Gas, Hydro, Nuclear or Renewable Energy like Solar, Biomass, Wind etc. We need energy to produce and cook
Naturopathy 101, for the middle class and more!
Definition of health Health does not merely refer to physical fitness. The WHO in 1948, gave a worldly acceptable definition of Health which goes by, 'Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely absence of disease or infirmity ‘. Which means a person has to be mentally, emotionally and physically be considered ‘healthy'. This might not be truly applicable to the present world - A world divided by class, caste and creed. The middle-class population Let us most importantly focus on the elephant in the room,' The Middle-Class population of India'.Yes, the middle class, that amounts to around 267 million of the population of India. According to the NHA survey, an average Indian spends about 42% of his OOP (Out of Pocket expenditure ) on health care, which equals to an average of ₹5,00,000 in a yearly saving of ₹12,00,000, according to budget expenditure reports. Let us say an average middle-cla
PSYsolution Series 1: ARTICLE 15 of 15: MIND MATTERS
MIND OR MATTER? The debate, “Which is more important, Mind or Matter?” is a perennial debate! The Mind is invisible; whereas, Matter is visible. If we perceive this aspect, neutrally and naturally, we shall find that the wellness of the human organism can be primarily correlated to the matters. Improvement of matters, bodily matters, brings wellness back to the individual substantially, even without the involvement of the mind. It means, if an individual suffers from some bodily ailments and changes the food intake in-sync with nature, the problem gets improved substantially, for most of the cases. On the other hand, in similar cases, if the food is not changed but thought-wise, the individual conserves a lot of vitality, the possibilities of improvement are rare! Having said, the primary importance of Matters, we must acknowledge the ultimate importance of Mind. Because, for the sustainability of the opted change in food (the matter), the involvement o
PSYsolution Series 1: ARTICLE 13 of 15: THE RAW STORY AND THE INPUT MATTERS
THE RAW STORY - WHY TO EAT RAW? The raw materials needed by each and every organism are R-A-W: Radiation-Air-Water. For the solar galaxy, the primary natural radiation is the Sunlight, then the Air and the Water. Organisms are of two types – Autotrophs and Heterotrophs. Autotrophs, the plants, can produce their food by integrating R-A-W with the help of soil. Heterotrophs, we, can absorb direct R-A-W but also need solid food. We depend upon the autotrophs for the solid foods. We disintegrate solid foodinto the qualities of R-A-W. Then we reintegrate the disintegrated R-A-W into our body cells. The R-A-W undergoes at least 3-steps, Integration by autotrophs, Disintegration and Reintegration by our body to form our body cells. Our VITALITY executes the last two steps. Image credit:LoggaWigglervia Pixabay.com Let us take an example of a mango. It is an integrated (1) form of R-A-W by a mango tree. Then when we consume it, we disintegrate (2) and rei
PSYsolution Series 1: ARTICLE 12 of 15: THE RIGHT ORDER - THE CIRCADIAN CYCLE
The Conscious Consistent Conservation of Vitality is the basis of Nature Cure. A majority of our activities happen beyond our conscious level in a programmatic way while a few activities we do consciously. Our conscious choices need to sync with our beyond conscious activity-wise, to reduce conflicts and attain a better state of Conservation of Vitality. The conscious activities that we choose to do can be termed as Physical Activities. Image credit: StockSnap via Pixabay.com For example, we eat, walk, play, dance, conduct meetings, talk, choose to listen etc. all the activities we perform with our conscious decisions. The beyond conscious activities that we perform are termed as Physiological Activities. For example, we feel hunger, we digest, excrete, feel tired, sleep, we sense sexual drives etc. These happen in an autonomous way beyond our conscious choices. Apart from these two activities, Psychological Activities are also an important aspect. In
