When I am on a diet of fruits and vegetables, I feel headache. Can you explain me?

Headache, nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea and fever are few symptoms that occur when we switch to only fruits and raw vegetables. Firstly this is a good sign and happens due to presence of toxins in the body. The symptoms occur due to less vitality. These symptoms may continue maximum for first three days only and after that once elimination of toxin begins, they gradually disappear. Ideally one must go on only fruits for first three days to enhance vitality and add raw vegetables from day four to start the cleansing of the body. This will help in reducing these symptoms. Remember all illness are loss of vitality due to toxin accumulation in the body, hence all lifestyle changes constitute three major steps - 1. Increase vitality. 2. Toxin elimination. 3. Disease reversal.

Is it ok to add Splenda in my tea?

Anchal Kapur
10:12 PM | 09-12-2018
Absolutely not. It’s an artificial sweetener. Anything that’s artificial and not natural interferes with the body functions and creates a toxic load. Toxicity is the cause of all diseases, big or small. Try adding jaggery instead.

My 14 year old daughter has been getting a lot of pimples off late. Have tried giving her lot of fruits and keep her hydrated, not of much use. She is very frustrated. I don’t want to put her on any medication, is there any natural remedy?

Its true. I have a daughter who has small acne on her forehead too. She has healthy eating habits and we use only whole foods at home that are organic. At this age there will be some harmonal fluctuations and over time it will stabilize. Turmeric helps..but healing is typically an inside out approach and not outside in. Unless she is on full raw / high raw with only dinner cooked, body will continue to act funny in this age.

Hi, Pl advise for nervous system strengthen remedies

Anchal Kapur
09:58 PM | 16-12-2018
The health of the nervous system depends on it being adequately oxygenated. This can happen in 2 ways: 1. Breathe in good oxygen - do deep breathing sitting in the sun. Do a few yoga breathing exercises - anulom vilom, bhastrika, etc. 2. Avoid foods that block flow of oxygen in the body, I.e. un-natural foods such as non veg, dairy, refined oils, white sugar, table salt, junk foods, etc. Eat fibre rich foods such as fruits and vegetables, eat in whole form or as juices, smoothies and salads. Eat nuts and seeds, whole grains. Stress also reduces oxygen flow to brain cells. So work on that. Engage in any activity of your interest such as music, gardening, reading, etc. Challenge your mind through chess or sudoku or puzzles. Stimulate the brain cells. Focus on sleeping well. Body undertakes function of repair and maintenance only when you sleep well. Overall- remember that body is programmed to give us good health. It doesn’t matter whether it’s the nervous system or respiratory or digestive or any other. Staying aligned to the laws of nature ensures our body can work at its optimum. Hope I could answer your query. All the best!!

My mother is a patient of asthma for the past 15 years. She is on her routine medication and nebulization. How can I help her eat better to keep her symptoms under control?

Two foods will greatly help - green leaf vegetable and coconut. Start the day with green leafs vegetable juice and have half a coconut daily. Coconut may be eaten straight or may be added to smoothies or as chutneys. Avoid salt, sugar and oil.

Does Naturopathy have a different view on germs than Allopathy?

Anchal Kapur
06:43 PM | 14-12-2018
Yes, it does. Allopathy says germs lead to infections. Naturopathy says it's the toxic environment of our body that gives a breeding ground to germs in the first place. This toxic environment is caused due to bad foods, stress, lack of fresh air or sun, less sleep, etc. So naturopathy looks at treating the root cause for those germs to thrive & give you a disease. Whereas allopathy focuses on just killing those germs through medicines. Needless to say, when the root cause is not addressed, those germs will come into being again & hence begins the vicious cycle of one illness after the other!!

I am not sure if your questions is - Are there plant based sources of Vit B12 pills? - Can I get B12 from plants? For the answer to question 1, yes there are B12 pills available in the market which is from a plant based source. Unived.in sells these. Look for 1500mcg Methylcobalamin . For the second part of the question, B12 is not made by plants or animals. It is made from bacteria. Keep your gut healthy, soak in natural elements like sun, air, water, earth, organic foods etc to allow ood B12 generation by the body.

Oil Free Vegetables Cutlet
Doing the veggie cutlet without oil may seem impossible. But cooking the food in simple ways such as steaming, and grilling actually retains the flavour along with the enzymes and nutrition of the food If you do not have an oven, worry not, you could use some cold pressed oil and lightly cook the cutlets on the usual tawa. This may not turn out exactly like the tikki waale bhaiyya does, but in our view keeps the taste intact. Combine it with your green chutney and imli chutney and you won't miss the oil fried version!

Hi! My daughter has very dry hair that become difficult to manage. Any suggestion on some natural shampoos to get rid of dryness?

Anchal Kapur
05:51 PM | 11-12-2018
I can tell you two things - First - It's best to avoid chemical based harsh shampoos and conditioners. You may feel theywill improve your hair, but trust me its only short term. Look around for natural ingredients based shampoo. I know someone in Gurgaon, my neighbor in fact, who does natural shampoos, free from SLS, paraben, etc. If you want I can put you in touch with her. 2nd - All my life I had dry hair. They looked very rough. But since 2015, when I changed my diet to whole plant based, my hair became shiny & manageable. No matter what you do externally for your daughter's hair, pls don't ignore that she has to be well nourished from within too. Fruits, a generous serving every morning & evening, fruit juices, fruit smoothies, veggie juices, coconut water - basically look for high water content food.

Basically any issue needs to be addressed holistically. The root cause of the VV could be anything. Lifestyle changes with natural foods, exercises as we heal or how much ever we can, proper rest will help. Animal foods, refined , fried, sugary, processed foods to be totally avoided

Children of growing age have different nutritional requirement than adults. They need more of calcium for their bones to grow well. You must surely incorporating calcium rich foods like almonds, cashewnut, spinach, sesame seeds, coconut milk, turnips etc. However, do not become obsessed with calcium and ensure the body’s need for other important nutrient is also met up with. This can be done by eating a whole plant based diet.

First of all, congrats on deciding to detox. Can i ask what steps have you taken to detox ? Is this a lifestyle change / diet for sometime ? When you go healthy in whatever way you have chosen, your body eliminates the toxins you wanted to shed. However, how and when it will shed is not known to anyone. This is called the healing crisis period and you must expect all the unexpected issues including emotional outbursts at this time. The advice is to not think "medicinal" and supress that with herbal / any form of drinks. Instead continue the healthy lifestyle and let the body do its job. When we decide to detox, we must also decide to stop thinking "medicine" that relieves the discomfort. In the continual process of removing such discomforts, our bodies become abused and collect toxins. So we must get out of this mindset of stopping the elimination.

I’m getting a very bad acid reflux. The acid is reaching my throat. I just took some lemon with ginger for relief. What else can I do?

Try millets khichdi. Take Sama Rice/ barnyard millet and moong dal. Recipe is same as regular rice khichdi, just that millets need more water. You can also add veggies to the khichdi.
