Hi. Ulcerative colitis means ulcers in the colon / large intestine. Any ulcers that we get in our body are a manifestation of excess acidity in our bodies. They are body’s way of telling you to reduce acidity & restore the acid-alkaline balance. You can do so by eating foods that are natural, by staying calm & believing that all will be well and by resting a lot. Hence, UC is a problem that you can definitely get rid of. You don’t have to suffer from it for life!! If you take allopathic medicines, they might give you temporary relief. But UC will keep recurring every now & then because medicines never treat the root cause of a problem. I myself had ulcerative colitis and was on lifelong medication. Then I came across the natural way of living and made changes in my life. I have been medicine free & free from colitis since then. You can read my story in Health Journeys. I’ll be more than happy to answer any queries that you may have.

Dear Som As per nature cure, the human body works towards maintaining its pH or acid-alkaline balance. It functions optimally when the pH of the blood is slightly alkaline (around 7.36-7.42). As per nature cure, most symptoms/diseases are caused because of increased acidityresidues get built up because of wrong food habits as well as non-food elements. Stressful situations and negative emotions may be acid-producing in the body. Infection is caused by an acid-alkaline imbalance in the body. While there may be some short-term remedies that you could explore but a long term solution is to work on the root cause by supporting the body in restoring the imbalance. You can maintain hygiene and hydrate yourself. You can also take a personal consultation with our Natural Health Coach who can understand your background better & suggest you the way forward. You can explore our Nature-Nurtures Program for the same. In the meanwhile, please read this blog to understand more - Do You Know About The Body’s Acid Alkaline Balance? My husband gets headache when he does even partial fasts. Is there a way of getting his body to adapt to fasting?
Nikita Mishra
04:47 PM | 01-06-2021
Hello Jyoti, Fasting, dieting too rigorously, eating high sugar foods and skipping meals can all trigger or make people more likely to have a headache or migraine. Even delayed or irregular meals can make a difference. This is due to people's blood glucose levels falling too low. Headaches caused from going without food are often severe and are accompanied by mild nausea. Headaches due to fasting may not always be due to hypoglycemia, they can also be caused by stress hormones released by the body during fasting. They are also often triggered by dehydration or lack of sleep. If your headaches/migraines appear to be triggered or exacerbated by low blood-glucose levels, you should be able to keep them under control by paying close attention to your diet. Small, frequent, low-sugar meals are ideal. Make sure you never miss breakfast or skip meals, and if you usually have sandwiches for lunch try having proper meals instead. If you have lunch early, have an afternoon snack so you don’t get hungry. If you have hypoglycaemic headache that starts when you wake up, it can sometimes be prevented by having breakfast cereal last thing at night. This should be of high-fibre to prolong the glycaemic effect. Also, try and improve the quality of your food by eating a balanced diet with more unrefined foods, fresh fruit and vegetables, and cut down on cakes, biscuits, ice cream and anything which makes you consume large amounts of sugar over a short period of time. Also, it may help to add more protein to your diet, and try to avoid flavoured, or pre-cooked foods. The naturally-occurring sugars in unrefined food are digested much more slowly than those in refined food, which means that glucose is released into the bloodstream more slowly, and so is less likely to stimulate the over-production of insulin that leads to hypoglycaemia. If you are dieting, plan to lose a smaller amount of weight over a longer period of time. This is a better way to diet, since it is easier to keep the weight off once you’ve finished. Stress and alcohol can both interfere with your metabolism, so it is important to make time for relaxation and sleep, and avoid alcohol if you drink. Caffeine can also have an effect so gradually cut down on tea, coffee, chocolate, and other caffeine-containing products. These simple adjustments can make a real difference to the frequency and severity of your headaches or migraines if they are triggered by hypoglycemia. Thank you

Hello Amit, Obsessive compulsive disorders (OCD) features a pattern of unwanted thoughts and fears that lead you to do repetitive behaviors. These obsessions and compulsions interfere with the daily activities and cause significant distress. The person suffering from OCD repetitively repeats the activities like repeatedly washing hands, brushing teeth, etc. Such behavior results in anxiety, depression and other mental issues. Here are a few tips that will surely help you: Meditation Meditation is the ultimate key to achieving good mental health. Just like our physical health, our mental health is also equally important and meditation is the best to achieve the same. Give 20 to 25 minutes from your busy day for meditation. Practice it in sukhasana or padma asana and concentrate on your breathing. Daily meditating will surely lead to a healthy and happy mind. Diet Diet also has an impact on our mental health as our metabolism depends on the foods that we have which in turn affects the hormonal secretions. Drink a glass of warm water with lemon juice in it in the morning on an empty stomach. This will help to boost the metabolism at the start of the day. Have soaked raisins and other dry fruits to get the easily absorbable nutrients. Eat sprouts, nuts, beans and salads. Include Vitamin C in your diet like blueberries, amla, orange or lemon as they have antioxidant properties. Drink plenty of water throughout the day to eliminate the toxins out of the body and to be hydrated. Avoid dairy products and animal products as they are not meant for the human digestive system and hence it results in the accumulation of toxins in the body. Avoid processed, packaged and preserved foods as they have bad effects on our digestive system. Yoga Daily yoga is very effective for achieving a good balance between the mind, body and soul. Practice suryanamaskar daily. Do bhujanga asana, paschimottan asana, gomukha asana and padahasta asana. Do pranayam regularly for 15-20min, specially anulom-vilom and kapalbhati pranayam. Take sunrays early in the morning. Sleep The quality and pattern of the sleep also determine the state of our mental health as it affects the circadian rhythm and in turn the hormonal balance. Sometimes, lack of proper also leads to mental illness. So, take proper sleep of at least 8 to 10 hours daily. Avoid electronic devices like mobiles, laptops, computers, tv, etc at least 1hour before sleeping to improve the quality of sleep. Sleep in a dark room and the place of sleep should be quiet and clean. Thank you

How to moisturise skin in winter in natural way?
Dr. Preetha Ashok
11:24 AM | 09-12-2020
Hello Rashi. No matter the type of skin, the skin tends to get dry during winter, especially overnight. It's very important to moisturize your skin based on your skin type. First, identify if your facial skin is oily/dry/normal. Then identify if your body skin is oily/ dry. Do the following : 1. FOR DRY SKIN (FACE) : Wash your face with normal - cold water. Pat dry. Apply a mixture of coconut oil & sesame oil all over the face while massaging it in a circular motion. 2. FOR DRY BODY SKIN : COCONUT OIL is the best moisturizer! 3. FOR OILY/ ACNE PRONE SKIN : Wash your face, pat dry. Give an ice massage for 2- 5 minutes. Then apply 1- 2 tablespoons of sesame oil and massage the face in a circular motion. 4. FOR BODY SKIN (OILY) : Wash & apply coconut oil sesame oil all over the body. Also, a regular water consumption of a minimum of 1 - 2 litres during winters is very important for skin hydration. Hope this helps :)

Problem in conceiving due to low amh. Pls advise.
Nikita Mishra
10:45 AM | 02-12-2020
Hello User, AMH levels are determined by the number of developing follicles in your ovaries. The most important determining factor in the number of follicles is age, as ovarian reserve diminishes over time. Ovarian reserve begins to decline in the mid and late 30s and AMH levels tend to be low in women in their 40s. Age is not always a factor in low AMH. However, some women continue to have high AMH levels into their 40s, while others have declining AMH levels in their 20s or 30s. This can be due to environmental factors such as cancer treatment or down to inherited genetic causes. Here are some of the ways to deal with low amh naturally. Diet Eat a balanced diet to improve your fertility. Choose foods that are rich in antioxidants, healthy fats such as omega 3s, lean proteins and vitamins. Eating a healthy diet can improve the health of your ovaries and eggs. Include beans, broccoli, berries such as blueberries and strawberries, green leafy vegetables, spices such as turmeric and ginger and seeds (pumpkin, sesame) in your diet. Take sunshine daily Vitamin D has been shown to directly increase AMH levels, so take early morning sunrays daily for atleast 40 - 45 minutes, so that, your body can have the sufficient Vitamin D. Vitamin D can also help to keep your ovaries healthy. Say no to smoking Smoking permanently speeds up egg loss in the ovaries. The chemicals in cigarettes mutate the DNA in a woman's egg cells, making some of the eggs unsuitable for conception. So, it is best to keep eggs healthy and free of unnecessary chemicals. Manage stress levels Stress can produce hormones such as cortisol and prolactin that can interfere or halt ovulation, which also hinders egg production. Stress-reducing activities such as yoga, meditation, exercise or a warm bath can help keep stress and frustration at bay. Yoga Good egg health is aided by oxygen-rich blood flow to the ovaries. Blood flow in the body can quickly decrease from dehydration, so aim to drink atleast 10 glasses of water each day. Yoga is a healthy and relaxing way to improve blood flow. Perform yogasanas such as the lotus pose, child’s pose, reclining hero and seated forward bend. Sleep A good quality sleep is extremely important for maintaining the circadian rhythm. So, have a good quality sleep of atleast 7-8hours daily. Sleep early at night at around 10pm and also wake up early in the morning at around 6am. Read books before sleeping for an improved quality of sleep. Thank you
Can you suggest treatment of lymph-edema in legs?
Nikita Mishra
11:14 AM | 18-11-2020
Hello, Treatment for lymphedema focuses on reducing the swelling and controlling the pain. Lymphedema treatment includes the following- Exercises Light exercises in which you move your affected limb may encourage lymph fluid drainage and help prepare you for everyday tasks, such as carrying groceries. Exercises shouldn't be strenuous or tire you but should focus on the gentle contraction of the muscles in your arm or leg. Wrapping your arm or leg Bandaging your entire limb encourages lymph fluid to flow back towards the trunk of the body. The bandage should be tightest around the fingers or toes and loosen as it moves up your arm or leg. Massage A special massage technique called manual lymph drainage may encourage the flow of lymph fluid out of your arm or leg. And various massage treatments will benefit in lymphedema. Compression garments Long sleeves or stockings made to compress your arms or legs encourage the flow of the lymph fluids out of the affected limb. Wear a compression garment when exercising the affected limb. Take care of the affected leg Do your best to prevent complications in your leg. Clean your skin daily, looking over every inch of your affected limb for signs of trouble, such as cracks and cuts. Apply moisturizer to prevent drying. Diet It will be more effective if you modify your diet to keep all the systems of your body function smoothly. For example, lymph nodes become thicker and less mobile when we are dehydrated, but flows well when we drink plenty of foods. To stay well hydrated, you should drink 64 or more ounces of water a day. Avoid inflammation-causing foods like sugar, wheat, refined flour, soda, coffee, tea, dairy products, eggs and peanuts. Instead eat foods that counter inflammation, such as fresh green leafy vegetables, lemon, avocados, beans, sprouts, some whole grains and flax seeds. Yoga Yoga can improve the flow of the lymph. Practice yoga daily for atleast 20min. You can perform 12 sets of suryanamaskar. In yoga asanas, do bhujanga asana, gomukha asana, trikona asana and paschimottan asana. Pranayam also greatly helps in improving the flow. Do kapalbhati pranayam and bhramri pranayam regularly. Thank you

I have many open pores on my face. How to get rid of them
Nikita Mishra
11:59 AM | 28-09-2020
Hello Chakshu, Open pores on the skin may result due to excessive oil production or thick hair follicles or it may due to the reduced elasticity around pores. It may also be due to sun damage or genetic reasons. Overuse of chemical based on the skin for a long time also results in skin damage. Exposure to pollution also deteriorates our skin health. The problem can be resolved by making some small changes in daily habits. Diet Start the day with 3 to 4 glasses of warm water. This will help to flush out the toxins out of the body. Drink coconut water. Vitamin C is essential as it has antioxidant properties. Have lemon juice or orange juice or amla regularly. Drink freshly prepared homemade fruit juices. Eat soaked nuts and raisins. Cook oil free. Avoid alcohol. Say no to deep-fried, spicy, processed and packaged foods. Avoid tea and coffee. Local application Mix besan and turmeric to make a paste. Apply this paste on the affected part. Keep it for 10 minutes and then rinse it with cold water. Apply fresh aloe vera gel and gulab jal on the affected part. Avoid using any chemical-based products. If you use makeup, then don't forget to remove it before sleeping at night. Protect yourself from dust and dirt. Exercise Exercising is essential for an improved metabolism which will help to flush out the toxins out of the body. Start the day with a short morning walk. Do plank for 5min. Practice pranayam regularly specially anulom-vilom and kapalbhati pranayam. Sleep Sometimes stress also triggers the skin issues and proper sleep is important to relieve the stress. So, take proper sleep of at least 7-8hours daily. Sleep early at night and also wake up early in the morning. Thank you
