I just got red poha.... How nutritious are they for snack or breakfast?

As everyone has already explained that the best breakfast is fruits, I'll not repeat it :-) In addition to that, if you want to eat poha, just view it from a whole vs processed scale. The more your poha or any other food item is towards 'whole' on this scale, the more nutritious it is & easy for body to absorb its nutrients. So yes red poha maybe closer to 'whole' than regular white poha, though both are processed foods.....And always beware of marketing gimmicks, know your brand or vendor well to make the right choice.

White sugar – A quick roundup through FAQs
Everyone takes sugar in their tea, milk, biscuits, dessert, sweets, chocolates, nimboo paani, etc. There are very few who don't relish sweet taste. But is sugar a natural food? What is it about sugar that makes it a culprit for so many health conditions? Find the answer by understanding what exactly sugar is and how it impacts our body. We also explore the variants of sugar and healthier alternatives of it. 1. Does our body need sugar? Our body needs energy to perform all its functions and sugar is one of the sources of energy. Having said so, the sugar our body needs is not the white-refined sugar that we commonly presume! Any food item that we eat, irrespective of whether it tastes sweet or not, is turned into glucose in our body. Glucose is a form of sugar and it is this sugar that our body needs. 2. If body needs sugar, shouldn't refined white sugar be a good way to get it? Image credit: Pixabay Refined sugar is a highly processed food item, nutrients k

You must share the age of your child when post these question. Whatever the age may be, CONGRATULATIONS! The toxins are thrown out by your child. The stinky toxins are better thrown away, than to keep inside! Eating a lot of fruits and veggie always helps mankind to conserve a lot of VITALITY*. For your child, that CONSERVED VITALITY is being shown in expulsion. 'Being off-dairy' is definitely another reason of conserving more VITALITY*. These could be old toxins which are being thrown! Otherwise, please keep a watch on your child, in case she is enervated in any of the routes of INPUTS, ACTIVITIES & THOUGHTS. The state of ENERVATION* sometime turn a good food into toxins. As conscious parent you must facilitate optimum conservation of VITALITY* in your child. You may also check our recent article on the above* terminology, in case you are new to Nature Cure science. The LAW OF UNITY is the answer! What is our objective? To get rid of the SYMPTOMS or to address the CAUSE, which leads to the removal of SYMPTOMS, may be slowly but surely! We need to dive deep to explore the cause of the problem that the individual is suffering from. If we go dialectically finding out the CAUSE, we shall find the lack of Nature-synchronous lifestyle causing excess depletion of the VITALITY is the primary cause. This ENERVATION leads the individual to a TOXAEMIC state due to lack vitality in proper ELIMINATION. The accumulated toxin is the SINGLE REASON of all our wellness problems. This eye problem is not a out of scope of this. The solution to the TOXAEMIA is consistent CONSERVATION OF VITALITY. With the raised levels of CONSERVED VITALITY, the individual certainly expels the accumulated toxins. Eventually the symptoms go away. THE VITALITY CONSERVATION happens through consistent RIGHT FOOD HABITS, BALANCED PHYSICAL ACTIVITY INCLUDING QUALITY SLEEP and STRESS-FREE MENTAL ENVIRONMENT. Thank you... Hi Friends! I am trying to make lifestyle changes bit by bit. Had a confusion regarding cookware. I have completely removed all aluminium cookware from my kitchen. But am not sure if anodized cookware (I am using Hawkins) is safe or not. Please suggest!

What I understand is that aluminium is bad because it leaches into the food kept / cooked in it. With anodized, it is said that very less aluminium leaches in only in small quantities. That's what the supporters / sellers of anodized cookware say. But when it comes to such things, I prefer to keep it simple. How do I know who's right & who's wrong? When it comes to stainless steel, there seem to be no conflicting views. No one says steel is bad. So I would recommend you switch to steel or earthen cookware for your kitchen. No plastic or aluminium or non stick etc.

My 75year old Father-in-law has a severe case of sciatica accompanied with varicose veins. He gets plenty physical exercise through the day. He has been a complete non-vegetarian all his life. It will be tough for him to give that up. Any suggestions on what can be added to his diet to support healing? Right now he is on anti-inflammatory and pain killer medicines.

Sciatica Pain and varicose veins can be cured through a clean diet and positive attitude. Removal of non veg is a must infact!! In the meanwhile you can do the below: 1. If he can’t give up non veg, source the best for him, such that it’s hormone free. Evaluate your vendors. Choose organic. 2. Give him vegetable salad before his non veg meal as enzymes of raw veggies will help in digesting the non veg. If possible add veggies in non veg too, lightly steamed ones. 3. Ideally eat non veg alone, don’t combine with any grains. Or replace rice with samak rice (barnyard millet) and wheat roti with amaranth atta roti. 4. Eat only fruits till noon everyday to support cleansing of body. 5. Ensure at least 50% of lunch and dinner is raw.
Hearty Warm Tomato Soup - get the goodness of veggies
This is a wonderful winter soup. If vegetables are cooked too long they lose their enzymes & nutrition. Thus we usually steam the veggies where needed. Or mostly keep them crunchy, say in the following recipe adding them only at the end. We also do not heat or reheat or boil too much. Idea is to retain flavour and color of veggies! Please note, all the portions are indicative. You may want to make changes as per your personal prefernce!
I have been on fruits & vegetables for the last 1 month plus. Presently there is extreme cold temperature touching 1 ° C or so. So taking salads consisting of beetroot , Radish , Carrot etc I feel I am catching cold or cough. Seeking your advice.

Since you have been on fruits & vegetables for the last month or so only......you have given the right inputs your body needed for cleansing the toxins.....cold or cough is one way in which the body does so, cold cough is body's cleansing mechanism, don't treat it as being sick. In extreme winters, our basic instinct is to have warm foods. So increase your veggie soup intake, keep it nutritious - steam the veggies instead of pressure cooking as excessive heat/pressure destroys the enzymes in veggies. Als,o add soaked nuts to your soup, they will make it creamy. Use all seasonal veggies - carrot, spinach, beetroot, tomatoes, beans, cabbage, etc. Luckily the winter sun is good till now in Delhi. Have your morning fruits or noon veggie juice or salad sitting in the sun. Keep the 2nd half of the day for non-raw food. I'm assuming you are not using refrigerated f&v. get them to room temperature before having. With veggie salads, i often slightly heat them before eating.....just to remove the outer coldness. Heat for 1 min or so. Make a herbal tea for yourself, keep it in a flask & keep sipping through the day - cinnamon, elaichi, adrak, tulsi, saunf, cloves, black pepper. F&V are natural foods, as long as you eat fresh, local, seasonal, fully ripe......there is no reason to be scared of them. Enjoy!!

Mixed Vegetables in White Sauce - no dairy, no refined flour
The recipe is a healthier way of preparing the regular veggies in white sauce. White sauce is a common base used in many delicacies. Conventionally, it is prepared using refined flour and milk. With the objective of cutting out both of these ingredients, in this recipe the white sauce is prepared using coconut milk and potatoes. This white sauce is not only a nutritious replacement, it is smooth, creamy and yummy! As the veggies are only lightly steamed, they tend to retain more of their moisture and nutrition!
