Focus on the baby’s rest and sleep during this time. Do know that the body does a great job of cleaning and repairing when it is rested well. So if the stuffy nose is keeping him awake, do steam 3-4 times a day to allow for comfortable sleeping. Do expose to early morning and evening sun. You will see what a difference it will make to the stuffy nose and congestion. Sun is a natural anti-congestion remedy, and I do that diligently with my child whenever going through a bout of fever, cold or cough. Ensure he is is sleeping earlier than usual in evenings. Massage him well each night with warm mustard oil and garlic …soles, head, nose and chest and back. Giving lukewarm water bath also helps with the congestion.
Millet khichdi - add diversity to the grains you consume
I get very excited when I am able to feed something healthy to my toddler son. He has been enjoying eating this millets khichdi. Its a good grain replacement for the regular rice based khichdi. You can use any millet rice to make it. I used barnyard millet, also called vrat ke chawal or sama rice. You can also add mixed veggies to it. This is a great way to add diversity to the grain intake of kids....adults too ;-), else we keep eating only wheat & rice which is highly processed these days!! Try & let me know how it was.

Fear or Will Power Develop fear or will power, rest will fall in place. If you are healthy then you need to focus on will power, if you think you are sick or have the potential to fall sick then fear is the answer. Fear and will power work best in changing habits to a healthy lifestyle. The fear of getting sick and will power to stay healthy. They both go hand in hand, one may binge (weak will power) on fast food and get sick (increase of fear). We need to become fearless and that happens with strong will power. Strong will power comes when we get intoxicated with Good Health. No one wishes to visit a Doctor or get sick, so the best is to make your food as your medicine by becoming a Doctor for your true self. One change which you may start with is the right way to drink water. The four golden rules:- 1. Always sit before drinking water. 2. Water must neither be chilled or hot, must be at body temperature. 3. Always sip water like a bird. 4. Drink water 40 minutes before meals and two hours after meals.

If you have broccoli soup for seven days the trouble will vanish, it's toxin elimination which started due to broccoli which is causing these symptoms. We often attribute such beneficial changes to change of lifestyle and give up pre-maturely. Give all changes minimum 21 days for the body to make the natural change before making any conclusion.

Hi. When our eyes come in touch with something that raises a red flag in our immune system, our body releases a substance known as histamine. This causes the common symptoms of an eye allergy - tearing, red eyes, itching or burning sensation, and stringy eye discharge. You may also find that your eyelids get puffy and swollen. Hence, an allergy is body’s way of fighting an external threat. It’s a natural process, we need not worry that something has gone wrong, we should be glad that body is doing it’s work. Our focus should be to help the body do it’s work and there are many things you can do. For external relief, you should keep cleaning your son’s eyes with a clean cloth soaked in clean cool water. You can also put cucumber slices on his eyes. For internally helping the body - give him concoction of 1 tbsp lemon, 1 tbsp honey and pinch of haldi every 4 hours. Let him eat light as only when body gets digestive rest it can focus on healing. So feed him only when he’s hungry. Give fruits, soups and coconut water. It will be good if he starts his day with soaked raisins as they are one of the most alkaline foods and body heals best in an alkaline environment. This also means u should reduce acidic foods such as grains, dairy, non veg, white sugar, refined oil, refined salt, packaged foods, etc. I myself have a son who is 2 years and 4 months old, so I can totally imagine your agony. But hang in there, do whatever you think is do-able. Also rest is very important for healing, so try to let him sleep as much as possible. Sorry for the long post... but couldn’t resist responding to a fellow mother ☺. Good luck dear.

Sleep is for sure extremely important for our well-being. It affects our mental health as much as it has impact on our physical health. In today's’ technology laden environment we are constantly exposed to gadgets and radiations. These disturb our sleep pattern. So try to cut out gadgets for sure. Also, eat more of whole plant based foods and drink plenty of water. Try meditating or deep breathing for relaxation. Also, as mother do not forget that this a time when your child undergo many changes and is hence under lot of turmoil. Look for ways that you can be with her and spend more quality time. I will suggest if you can find some new ways of being with her. As I have experienced kids at this age, wants a different relationship with parents than their young age. Sometimes they just want us to be there for them.
My husband has diabetes (type 2) for last 10 years and hypertensive for last 20 years. He gets mouth ulcers frequently. This is a problem since childhood but now aggravated. How can i take special care for diet to keep him and his heart healthy?

Please tell him to exercise daily. He should do light exercise, based on his comfort. Deep breathing is very good as it helps eliminate toxins through breath. Also sufficient amount of oxygen reach all the cells of the body & that promotes cellular health. If cells are healthy, they can do all body functions properly & then we are healthy.
I am experiencing constant twitching or spasm on my right eyebrow for past 10 days. Comes and goes in 3 hour intervals. Can anyone recommend a natural remedy?

Each cell of our body is connected to nervous system. When the nervous system doesn't get the necessary stimuli (all OK report) from a particular cell/part of the body, it initiates a motor stimuli for that cell or part of the body to shake/move it to get the stimuli. This motor stimuli is the cause of sudden shiver, sudden moment of limbs, unexplained shaking of fingers or joints. In your case it's the constant motor stimuli from brain to eyes for return call which is not happening. Do the following:- 1. Wash your face with cold water followed by warm water soaked towel press. 2. Avoid all stimulants like tea, coffee, aerated drinks, etc. 3. The main cause is inflammation, it could be anywhere in the upper body region. 4. Do oil pulling daily for next 30 days.
My 14 year old daughter has been getting a lot of pimples off late. Have tried giving her lot of fruits and keep her hydrated, not of much use. She is very frustrated. I don’t want to put her on any medication, is there any natural remedy?

Its true. I have a daughter who has small acne on her forehead too. She has healthy eating habits and we use only whole foods at home that are organic. At this age there will be some harmonal fluctuations and over time it will stabilize. Turmeric helps..but healing is typically an inside out approach and not outside in. Unless she is on full raw / high raw with only dinner cooked, body will continue to act funny in this age.
Hi, Pl advise for nervous system strengthen remedies
Anchal Kapur

The health of the nervous system depends on it being adequately oxygenated. This can happen in 2 ways: 1. Breathe in good oxygen - do deep breathing sitting in the sun. Do a few yoga breathing exercises - anulom vilom, bhastrika, etc. 2. Avoid foods that block flow of oxygen in the body, I.e. un-natural foods such as non veg, dairy, refined oils, white sugar, table salt, junk foods, etc. Eat fibre rich foods such as fruits and vegetables, eat in whole form or as juices, smoothies and salads. Eat nuts and seeds, whole grains. Stress also reduces oxygen flow to brain cells. So work on that. Engage in any activity of your interest such as music, gardening, reading, etc. Challenge your mind through chess or sudoku or puzzles. Stimulate the brain cells. Focus on sleeping well. Body undertakes function of repair and maintenance only when you sleep well. Overall- remember that body is programmed to give us good health. It doesn’t matter whether it’s the nervous system or respiratory or digestive or any other. Staying aligned to the laws of nature ensures our body can work at its optimum. Hope I could answer your query. All the best!!

Two foods will greatly help - green leaf vegetable and coconut. Start the day with green leafs vegetable juice and have half a coconut daily. Coconut may be eaten straight or may be added to smoothies or as chutneys. Avoid salt, sugar and oil.

Carrots are easly available in winters. Make a good use of these yummy and juicy carrots. We should always consume salad before cooked food. They release digestive juices to digest the cooked food very well. Peanut and mustard in this give a nice crunchy taste.
