My uncle has diabetes. His sugar levels are very high, 300+. Can he take jaggery based sweets? I have seen lots of recipes on wellcure.
Shweta Gupta
01:16 PM | 25-04-2019
Well! jaggery is certainly a less refined food item than the regular white sugar. It is still sweet! Anyone who substitutes white sugar with jaggery still needs to do it in moderation. A diabetic needs to be all the more cautious. Your uncle must always make any dietary changes in consultation with the doctor only.
Should I be using ghee for tadka instead of oil?
Mayuri Goswami
11:21 AM | 16-11-2018
Contrary to popular belief, doing a ghee tadka may not be the best thing. There are two facts about ghee: It’s a processed food not whole food, neither raw and that its derived from dairy (so quality is always doubtful, especially these days) Most of our tadkas can be done without oil or ghee, but ofcourse our houses usually will have other people involved in kitchen (maids / parents etc.) So getting everybody on board may be tough! So if you must use, then use cold pressed oils – a wide variety – keep changing every 2 months. If you must use ghee (which may not be needed for true health), then add it on top.

It’s a daily struggle to get my kids to eat dry fruits. Please share how you get your kids to eat them?
Swatantra

Some kids like to have soaked nuts, that’s a great starter for the day. Else, a couple of other ways that we have seen work are – nut paste added to soups or curries, nut powders added to vegetables or a simple dal-chawal meal or you could try making dry-fruit smoothie.
What all can nutribullet be used for. Advisable to buy?
Ankur Bhatia
11:59 AM | 27-12-2018
Well! I have had the experience of using both - a regular mixie and the nutribullet. When we began adding juices to our daily routine, we started with the regular mixie. While you could do well with the mixie the result you get by using a nutribullet is amazing. The biggest advantage, as per me is the time saved, smooth texture of the drink (which translates to no fuss with kids). According to me, its a good buy and adding juices to your daily routine does become a lot more easier!
My son turned 11 years this October. His height is 4. 2 ft. I am extremely worried that he is very short. What can I alter in his diet to help him gain height?

Children of growing age have different nutritional requirement than adults. They need more of calcium for their bones to grow well. You must surely incorporating calcium rich foods like almonds, cashewnut, spinach, sesame seeds, coconut milk, turnips etc. However, do not become obsessed with calcium and ensure the body’s need for other important nutrient is also met up with. This can be done by eating a whole plant based diet.
Can you suggest some interesting recipe for my kids lunch?

Try millets khichdi. Take Sama Rice/ barnyard millet and moong dal. Recipe is same as regular rice khichdi, just that millets need more water. You can also add veggies to the khichdi.

Do regular steam with mouth open. That really helps. Hydrate from inside too, which means increase veg juices, fruits and salads. Reduce milk and grains – thats very important!
My Amh is 4. 49ng/ml. Is it normal or high?
Wellcure
05:56 PM | 13-02-2024
Namastey! AMH level above 4 is considered to be high. The cause of having low amh is toxins accumulation in the body. However, you can return it back to normal by aligning your food and lifestyle with nature and eliminating the toxins that are creating health issues. You can start with these minor changes in your routine:- Have only fruits based breakfast Walk for atleast 20-30 minutes regularly. Include coriander leaves in your lunch & dinner meals as it is rich in antioxidants, reduces inflammation and contributes to reproductive health. Sleep early by max 10-10:30 PM as it sets your circadian rhythm. I have two daughters. They have fair complexion but in summers they bath in swimming pool all the time. There complexion is tanned. What can I do?
Dr. Khushbu Suthar
08:45 PM | 25-08-2020
Hello User, Tanning is very common in summer especially getting exposed to swimming pools with chlorine water there are chances to get even skin damages. The best thing to do is: 1. Start with vitamin C diet which helps in treating skin issues and keeps even complexion. Sources are oranges, sprouts, sweet potatoes, sweet lime. 2. Start with using gram flour powder, half teaspoon turmeric with rose water and apply it twice a week on your daughter skin this will remove tanning. 3. Use orange peel powder ad face wash daily on their skin to maintain skin delicateness and keep bacterias away. Hopefully, these suggestions will help. Thank you
